#577793 BWS: Turumbar Fixes and BGT NPC Portrait Setup Problems

Posted by dabus on 20 May 2015 - 08:57 PM in Mega Mod Help

Problem was fixed yesterday.
And it does make sense if you'd have a dependency of a mod that does not fit your language selection since the dependency is not translated (yet).

#578093 BWS Debug Mode Vs Set Up Mode

Posted by dabus on 03 June 2015 - 12:00 PM in Mega Mod Help

Debug Mode is for *drumroll* ... debugging. :P
Debugging the BWS itself it is - not the result or install. I wrote that since the BWS sometimes crashed and I'd have to ask to replace code or write it myself to find out which variables had which value and so on.
So that mode creates a modified script that writes the current executed line into a file. Another small script runs and looks for a crash of the main-script. If it recognizes a crash, then it will edit the main script to write those needed variables into a file that gets displayed on the second crash.

The regular one just runs the script.

So you could run either one, it should not affect the result of the install at all.

#577561 Installation error

Posted by dabus on 14 May 2015 - 01:09 PM in Rogue Rebalancing

[weidu] WeiDU version 23600
That's too old.

Usually the BWP installpack overwrites the WeiDU with version 238, so something might have overwritten that.
Put WeiDU.exe from its server or the BiG World Installpack-package into the folder and just start a setup-XYZ.exe -- that will update the Setups -- but do that without installing anything.

#574976 Big World Setup (BWS) - Install a mod that is not part of BWP

Posted by dabus on 24 January 2015 - 09:35 AM in Mega Mod Help

Read the help text on the right side of the mod/component selection-screen. ;)
The context menu(right click):
In the first line you see the name of the component which you have chosen.

(Don't) pause before the component:
These lines allow you to stop the installation before the mod or the component. Thus you can look after the install or add mods that are still unknown to the Installer.

#578135 BWP Error Code 43

Posted by dabus on 05 June 2015 - 01:23 PM in Mega Mod Help

Can you tell me your order of referred languages?
I guess English only, but I thought I'd better ask before starting debugging tomorrow...

#578105 BWP Error Code 43

Posted by dabus on 04 June 2015 - 08:16 AM in Mega Mod Help

Sounds like you created something that is not solvable. I can't remind if the number or problems or the number of attempts to solve problems have fixed bounds and you breached them.
I'd suggest to save your selection in advance or better export it via the Options-menu and post the file here. Then I could use the file + your language selection to see what's happening.
And if you save, you can go back to that status without reselecting everything yourself. Of course you could also right-click ever item yourself.
Oh, and solving conflicts first and then and removing items with pending dependencies should also work,

#581989 Quick Question About BWS Settings

Posted by dabus on 31 October 2015 - 01:50 PM in Mega Mod Help

Really? Well, one is offers customized install (click components) and the other leaves the install itself to the BWPs install.bat and you can install what that offers.
Also checking the chose mods and components button would have been much faster than typing this question. ;)

#577884 BWP textpack issues

Posted by dabus on 24 May 2015 - 01:07 AM in Mega Mod Help

I'd guess it's not an issue but using the old mod version.
Check if you got the BWS master - if not, that's the reason why you did not get the new mod version of Ascalons Questpack (2 beta) that provides a translations and thus does not need the textpack.

#577522 Big World Setup is one of the Best Things Ever! : Some Thoughts

Posted by dabus on 13 May 2015 - 12:46 PM in Mega Mod Help

2) Dunno. We had a topic about being a bit out of "moderation" and I don't think that it'll get a new forum. Not for a game that's that old and not after all that time that flow down the river Styx since inserting support for component selection or other games that are younger.
4) Dunno. BWP is older or made the blueprints for a BWS install order and is not mentioned.
5) I think Quiet made some adjustments some time ago. Six or seven weeks and committed them into master / EET. So if you think it differs, maybe you have chosen the old download package which is not current due to some internal issues.
(Things like rewrite some important portions of the script, making errors on the way, discuss ideas about that, waiting for a go from somewhere, introducing a new method to save some time for guys who keep the configuration up to date while adding some errors then, finding and removing some bugs).

BWP adds mods every now and then in a new release, which is maintained by Leonardo and he's pretty much on his own maintaining it, so new releases can take some time.
BWS is more a rolling release now. Quiet shouldered the burden to get the configuration to a current level some time ago and Alien had the bitbucket-idea that helps them to share that load (while I'm happy to be more or less completely out of that updating loop).

Way before that happened, BWS was written to fetch mods for the BWP and then start the batches (which it still can do). We then added component support and so on, so it wasn't "out of sync" all the time. BWS mostly all the time used or uses the order and hints about conflicts (I did not want to get involved in that and so I was happy to convert the batch-instructions).
Leonardo was more comfortable with the batches because he wanted to have control over the install process and understand what's going on. I mean, he inserted new features like questions, different install types and so on.
Since I only knew how to script using AutoIt3, I used that, Leonardo was not so eager to fiddle with this language, so he stayed with the batch, where he could implement those mentioned changes.

Since BWP / BWS coexisted for years because of those reasons, I don't really think that'll change. But I guess you never know.
Thanks for your praise, although you're exaggerating a bit. :)

#575049 BWS Questions/Problems

Posted by dabus on 27 January 2015 - 12:58 PM in Mega Mod Help

That's the BiG World Installpack.
The BWS is similar because I wrote it so that it should be more comfortable to use than the BiG World Installpack while doing the install with the same tools in the background.
The installpack does not download files, it ships with a batch that could do the unpacking (does not advertise it though).
The BWS can do both and you've got the option to either use the installpack to install or customize your stuff on component level, which will result in the BWS also handling the install.

By the way; Since every person has other preferences, I also added an option to export the url-list, so you could use other tools to fetch those files.

#575045 BWS Questions/Problems

Posted by dabus on 27 January 2015 - 11:52 AM in Mega Mod Help

BWS skips the download when the files are there. At least it worked for me testing just some minutes ok.
You can also look into the log why it got the file.
bg2eetp[]= BG2EE_TP_Alpha0000003.rar = 11585812
<= BG2EE_TP_Alpha0000003.rar = 11585812
BG2EE_TP_Alpha0000003.rar has been downloaded before.
WeiDU[]= weidu.exe = 972288
<= WeiDU.exe = 972288
WeiDU.exe has been downloaded before.
First line is the expected outcome.
Second line is the local file that's found with that name.

The expected name and size are always fetched by wget before the download. If wget does not work for you, that may be another reason why it's not working for you. If the byte-size or the files name differ, you'll also be forced to reload.

If things are missing, it will look like this:
WeiDU[]= weidu.exe = 972288
<= NA
Fetching WeiDU.exe
You can also see if the size differed.

If you know that those files are ok, you can just skip the download-process. The things like searching for missing "downloads" will still be done and you can force to use the present files.

Stratagems... because that's the name that was in the config-file while someone made an update and put the file on the server with the same download-url. Happens every few weeks. If guys would (want to) help out, these differences could be minimized.

Dunno what you mean with old installer... If you mean that the BWS produces errors... Yup, may happen. If you got logs/debug-files/changelog weidu than that can be handled, too.

#576422 Multiple copys of BG1EE and/or BG2EE : what is to be done ?

Posted by dabus on 03 April 2015 - 12:45 PM in Mega Mod Help

Well, he wanted an easy solution and batch-files are easy.
If you add 1 or 2 words per line, you could tell someone what he has to do in basic/easy sentences. Move a to b. Yeah, very basic but you'd understand. :D

He could take that from above as a basic.
This should be a simple way to toggle between the games.
@echo off
Move "C:\Users\Fouinto\Desktop\BG2EE.lnk" "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\Desktop.lnk"
If Exist "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Save 2" (
Move "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition" "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Save 1"
Move "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Save 2" "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition"
) Else (
Move "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition" "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Save 2"
Move "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Save 1" "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition"
)
Move "C:\Users\Fouinto\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\Desktop.lnk" "C:\Users\Fouinto\Desktop\BG2EE.lnk"

Idea would be to have a link on your desktop that points to your current game.
The link will be put into the save-dir.
If Save 1 exists, the current game has to be moved to Save 2.
And then Save 1 becomes active and the link gets moved onto the desktop.

#576418 Multiple copys of BG1EE and/or BG2EE : what is to be done ?

Posted by dabus on 03 April 2015 - 11:35 AM in Mega Mod Help

What hinders you to use batch-files (or any other script/programming language) to do that for you?
I mean to move a folder and execute the EE loader, you'd just need
move A B
C

#578256 Help with BWS setup

Posted by dabus on 11 June 2015 - 12:17 PM in Mega Mod Help

BWS.vbs starts the AutoIt3-script in an elevated state, so starting as Admin should not be an issue (I see that "do you allow this program to make changes on this computer?" every time I double-click it.).
Concept is to load what you selected (including dependencies you selected to solve by adding them).
You can see the selection in the BiG World Setup\config\user.ini underneath the [Save]-section.
Actions are logged in different logs, so you could try to look at BiG World Download Debug.txt. You can see the checks there...

JA#BGT_Tweak[]= JA_BGT_Tweak-1.71.zip = 9766894
<= JA_BGT_Tweak-1.71.zip = 9766894

This would be mod = filename = Size
Found name = Found size

BWInstallpack[]= BiG World Installpack v11.1.7z = 976974
<= NA

NA means to available, so this will be loaded.

If your PC does not work with wget (the download tool), the sizes will always be "unclear"/wrong and the BWS will try to catch them.

You could export the URLs you selected with the BWS and feed another tool with that data.
You could skip the download and just check missing files / enforce the loading of the files you got.

If those fail, you could try do download with some help of Kerzenburgs linklist and try to use the BiG World Projects batch-files.

#577638 BWS: La'Viconia Hood Stoppage

Posted by dabus on 16 May 2015 - 02:03 PM in Mega Mod Help

1. BWS has a ton of of connections (I'd roughly guess about 600, with lots of them being related to multiple mods/components) but it does not have all in there.
Your selection was to disable the main component and not being a thief, the thief animation does not make sense for Viconia.
The deletion may have been suggested by other conflicts.
2. Read above and I don't own nor can/want to debug that on your computer.

Maybe I should say I had a similar problem with scaling in general and I solved it by playing by going to the Tools > Picture Format-menu and playing with the settings there.

#577634 BWS: La'Viconia Hood Stoppage

Posted by dabus on 16 May 2015 - 10:00 AM in Mega Mod Help

The BWS loops until you type a c or an e into the inputbox that is highlighted and focused and press the button next to it. I don't know what happened there but it was not getting that response.
The translation for descriptions/keys/characters are ok and it works just fine here.
You could have exited and resumed here instead of reinstalling... (either by killing Autoit3.exe or using the TrayIcon to do so).

#577643 BWS: La'Viconia Hood Stoppage

Posted by dabus on 16 May 2015 - 07:31 PM in Mega Mod Help

http://dabus.bplaced.../12_process.au3 (out this one into the BiG World Setup directory)
http://dabus.bplaced...up_proctest.au3 (same folder)

Nothing gets overwritten, so you can delete the files later if you like.
You just get into that screen you're having problems with and have to press c or e to get out.
Remember that you you can just close the AutoIt3.exe if you can't get out of the program/script.

So to start, just drag the BWS_proctest.au3 file onto the AutoIt3.exe and post the output (is shown in a messagebox and gets pasted into clipboard)
Then start the AutoIt3 with right-click and give admin-rights, Open the test-file, see if it differs and post too.

Output should be like this:

Global:c|e
Localized:c|e
String:c
1: c == 99

So the allowed keys are shown, the keys in your language (so something like a "yes" as an answer can be [ Y ]es, [ S ]i, [ O ]ui, [ J ]a or something different.
The string shows your pressed button, followed by the splitted read text from the inputbox, represented by 1 character per line, showing number, character and ascii-code.

OS and codepage would be nice to know.
You're not one of those vm/emulator/wine-guys that found that something is bogging when you're not running a native windows or tries Windows 10?
And you're running as Admin in case you use Windows 8 and did not use the vbs to start the AutoIt3?
Unusual keyboards / layouts?

Aren't you curious if something (for whatever reason that would be) installed Bag02NeJ.itm?
Although I'd also guess that this is a leftover from an unclean uninstall.
