Version 2 of PC Soundset is just around the door with several new and exciting soundsets. :)

I'm thinking of releasing it the same was as the last, with the custom installer and separate full version for Linux/OSX, and I was wondering whether there were any requests or ideas regarding the technical implementation of the mod. I know there were some issues with the Mac script, and I plan on correcting that. I was also thinking of releasing the Linux/OSX version with a Windows batch file, to make it possible for Windows users to download and install the full version instead if they run into trouble with the installer.

Thoughts and further suggestions?

I think that's a great idea to offer up a full download if its not to much of a pain to add. I'll usually opt for that myself for no other reason than I like clutter on my pc.

I was just trying them today and I think the sound volume should be levelled a bit. Some of the female soundset for example are very quiet compared to the vanilla ingame sounds and the rest of the pack alike. Also, I think a full download could work better - sometimes you just predownload stuff at work and plan to install at home without net access...

It's interesting that some people say that the male are quiet in comparison to the female, while others say the opposite... I really don't know what to make of that.

I'll include a Windows .bat for the full version, then. Choice is always good. :)

It can be a very subjective thing. Using dB measures, even the BioWare soundsets can range from 0 to -12 dB maxima, depending on the style of the soundset and the expression of the particular sound. While we try to normalise to -6 dB maximum, it obviously doesn't reflect the general volume of the sound, since it only scales to the loudest noise in the sound. But if every custom soundset is too quiet, it shouldn't be too difficult to bump everything up by say 3 dB.

A good thing would be more narrowed feedback, then. If people could say "XYZ soundset is too low," that would be awesome as we can look at those individual soundsets.

Alright, I will play a little today and I will try to jolt down some notes of what was too quiet. It struck me only yesterday, because if you listen to them in winamp/whatever, they are mighty fine. But if you play them with/over the standard BG music, then sometimes they canīt be heard over it while the vanilla can.

Just pokin' my head in to see if there is any update to the update?!? I've been busy voicing characters' for Domi's mod over at G3 so haven't had the time to get another set together for this release. Cheers

Checking the samples gave me the following impressions (I assume they are the same ones included in the full set):

[Female] Bright young rogue (f_rogue)
All 3 of the samples have a hollow sound for the voice.

[Female] Cold, ambiguous killer (f_kille)
Sample 3 has a noticeable noise in the background besides the voice itself.

[Female] Paladin or Good Cleric (f_palad)
Sample 1 has like a 'click' sound at the end.

[Male] Arrogant, calculating spellcaster (m_arrog)
Samples have an overall lower sound level than the other soundsets.

[Male] Bright young rogue (m_rogue)
Same as above. Worse, even.

[Male] Paladin or Good Cleric (m_palad)
Again, lower sound level. Big contrast with the female version.

Where do these files gets installed to? I'm asking since my Override already is big and these soundfiles could perhaps be just enough to tilt the haystack...

Maybe Mac users get an easier installer? It's all I want.
