I must admit, my interest in Baldur's Gate, and by extension this mod, is slowly dwindling. :(

I played the Baldur's Gate series pretty consistently for a good 5 or 6 years in the least. If it weren't for the absolutely perfect Mage class this game offers, it would have likely hit the permanent archives a while ago.

My advice: get whatever you have finished cleaned up and released as soon as absolutely possible or there won't be too many people actually playing this mod, which would be a shame.

Interest can't be a constant value for us, either.
The real problem is that, of 12 team members, about a half are inactive or aren't actual coders, so we couldn't be fast even if we wanted.
On the other hand, I've recently invited in the team the most productive coder I know, and the new build is the first result of his presence :)

Just take a break with playing, or try TuTu (or both, as I did), and keep the CDs safe. Interest will raise again when we'll show some new screenshots (even better, if you can convince Quitch to show his RtW Wallpaper... worth seeing :thumb: )

I have to say, I really don't understand what you're doing that takes 12 teammembers 4 years.

Nothing, and that's the point. The first six months were a real drive, and then a variety of events stopped the team dead. Since then there have been a lot of changes which have made it hard for several key members to push this project through. There weren't (and aren't that I know of) 12 team members, there were originally four, one for dialogue, one for AI, one for areas/items/creatures, and one for testing. As well as dialogue I had to do all the WeiDU. It took a LOT of time.

The problem was there weren't enough people to start with and each vital element (AI, dialogue etc.) had only one person to it.

You won't see what looks like four years work because it isn't four years work. I got a new partner, I bought a house and I changed jobs. Each of these events made it harder and harder to spend time on this project. There's only a couple of dialogues to go, but they're big and writing at this point is a hell of a grind. Like with everyone else, your interests change.

Oh, and its been three years, not four.

The mod is slowly dying, imho.
Honestly, I tried all I could to get it restarted, but since I don't precisely swim in free time myself, let's say that I'm "waiting for a sign" before coding more stuff.

Still, it's bizarre this is happening when we're relatively close to the end, and with so much quality material already included. -_-

Isn't that what always happens? The finish is the hardest part.

I wish I could say that I am still gung ho... but I'm not, and my free time has dwindled to almost nothing. Still... I really wish that something would happen to inspire me to just finish this thing. .... Or perhaps some divine intervention to make it finished:)

Still plodding along though.

I am starting to wonder if we should just release what we have and let someone else finish it??? Not a serious question, really, heh.

I am certainly not saying we are bagging the project... it's just gonna take more time.... unless someone volunteers that knows how to code, work with areas and write dialog suddenly steps forward and offers to get us back on track.

So it starts to get down to this, it seems. Which would be most typical, yet very painful in this case.

Like Lucasarts did with KoToR 2? ;)

Divine Interventions are quite rare outside fantasy games, so I'd say the only thing that could help this project out is the will of it's creators. Either way, the team has to deicde sooner or later, because delaying the final part of development starts to destroy the interest in this mod more and more lately.
BG2 and the Infinite Engine are great, but they won't last forever. And while RtW is easily (one of) the most anticipated mod on BG2, interest will fade in years. -_-

I don't know how much still needs to be done. But if it isn't that much, you could try to give yourself a kick in the butt, reserve a free day for it, and try to finish it in one go.

First off, I know you guys don't owe us anything. But I have to say I'm kind of disappointed. No one twisted your arms to start this project. No one demanded you pool your creative efforts but you did anyway. And then, you told everyone we could look and play with what you created. Now you can't be bothered because things change? I'm sorry, but you made the promise, not the "viewing audience".

I'm not unsympathetic. My own life is rather hectic, I run my own business after all. That said, I always find a little time, maybe not much, but a little, to do with as I will. If you have so little free time in your life, and this is Not an insult/attack, you need to seriously rethink your lifestyle. That kind of stress will put you in an early grave. If, on the other hand, you're generating unneccessary drama, put that aside for a bit and finish what you started.

Guest: maybe you don't have a clue since you don't mod or do any type of coding, but if you believe three 20 minutes sessions equals one hour session, you are totally wrong. If you are coding, you have to re-read part of your work, rethink your guideline, start writing, and leave comments for next session. This means that at least 10 minutes out of the 20 are lost - usually all 20, hence this mod takes so much time to get coded.

Well, I've been lurking here, hoping for this mod's finish for about a year now. (I've also been praying of late that Quitch doesn't cancel his plans for the Imoen mod, even if RTW doesn't exactly turn out as planned. )I don't know if the little people's cries for encouragement are any sort of motivation anymore (or if they ever were), (I speak parenthetically too often) but I'm still really looking forward to seeing what you all have done and taking my Cleric and friends out for more head bashings.

Minsc's boots still have much room for more backside of evil, after all.
