Crash In Undercellar

Hi all,

So I'm upto the part where I must go into the Undercellar to continue the storyline (BG1).

But I have a problem. When I try entering this place from the Mermaid Inn or Sewers I get an immediate crash and this box message:

"An Assertion failed in ChDataTypes.cpp at line number 1591"

Now I tried the teleport "cheat" to get into undercellar, it's put me into the north west section...ok no crash so far.

I take my characters down the hall a little and Slythe and Krystin start talking talking to me then attack...but then the crash and same message always happens when the battle start.

I have a feeling it could be one of the enemy NPC's thats crashing me...I can lure Slythe and kill him but when the others join in... CRASH!

Is there a way the continue the plot by maybe just cheat summon some people and kill them or spawn items?

So the problems would be the lights? Would I need to install/uninstall it?

I don't know if it's lightmap-related if it only happens at the start of a particular battle.

Make sure Logging On=1 is in your baldur.ini file under Program Options, then reproduce the crash and post the contents of your baldur.err file in your game folder here. Should give at least a little more technical info if you've done that properly.

It is, oddly enough.
I had the same problem, tried MoveToArea, landed in the northern part of the Undercellar, and got the crash when I moved anyone south.


All that's needed to fix it is downloading the lightmaps from Rapidshare that are found on page 2 of the thread Wisp linked to and placing them in the override folder.

Yeah, certain maps have issues with the lightmaps. The Helm and Cloak did the same thing for me. I was able to MoveToArea and it put me way in the back of the bar. When I moved to the front door, whatever part of the lightmap is screwed up came on screen and crashed my game. This was just a coincidence that the lightmap happens to be screwed up in the center of Undercellar where the badguys are.
