Miloch........... damn it !!!

Jarno..... Could simply add some static anims to the area but just not the same :)

Oh well, have so many other things to worry about. While on the subject of bugs to all modders IE Tileset map editor has a bug, dont try to save areas with >115 creatures it totally corrupts the file on save, you wont notice till you try to open with Near infinity etc and obviously you will lose the work in the area.

Hi all VecnaV21 i now uploaded, as mentioned before MUCH harder than v19, a real challenge, and have kept my original design goals, take whatever overpowered / uber / items or spells and you will still get a good fight :)
I am starting a new thread for debug/comments if anyone has suggestions and/or bugs for V21+ please post there thanks.

V21........ Massive internal revision of virtually everything, quest quite bit harder now, less adventurous of you might well want to stick to v20

If I'm being a moron... sorry >.<

But where is version 20?

Oh bollocks! yes thanks for pointing that out, got my versions mixed, this release was supposed to be v20, v19 being the slightly less insanely hard version.
Have no idea what to do about it :) suppose v20 must be the "ghost" release since cant change the filename on the download system, will edit last post to avoid too much confusion, thanks again :)

V22 is ready and will be uploading tonight, I will consider this as a release candidate, everything if pretty finalised, and unless i get any posts otherwise the difficulty will not change. There will be V23 in a few months time but that will only involve music, text screens etc. I have plans for V24+ which now include custom rendered tilesets ( yay 3dmax ) , you will be battling in a starship :) But will depend on demand, if this mod gets popular i will implement V24+ but if not i think V23 will be the final one :)

I am trying to play bg2:soa again with this mod in particular but i am running into problems which i can't figure out. I installed SoA with patch; then installed G3 fixpack and G3 tweaks which installed correctly. I installed the Darkest Day 1.0.3 correctly aswell. The rest which includes NPC mods, tactics, item upgrade, unfinished business don't install or sometimes magically work but rarely. After the download of any of these mods, the install dos window pops up for a brief moment and goes away again. When I select e.g. setup-tactics it says:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.

FYI I am on windows 7 but have saved BG2 game into a seperate Games folder outside of Program Files. This is not the first time I have played this game with mods on this computer. I am stuck!
So I tried installing what I could then installing Vecna but other problems come up. This is the weidu log for vecna installaion:

Spoiler

I tried starting the game and using CLUA console to get to Council building and there is no cowled figure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

...

You are supposed to install the SoA, then ToB, then the ToB patch and then (G3)BG2 Fixpack, then the TDD v1.14, and then the other stuff. Not TDD v1.0.3 as it's not a WeiDU mod, and it overwrites the Fixpacks files.

Thanks but I lent ToB to a friend and I'm not interested in playing it. I just want to play Vecna. Do I need Throne of Bhaal? What about my other problems? They are not caused by a lack of ToB or TDD 1.0.3. Maybe I'll ask for ToB back but i still think that my problems will remain. I can't play SoA with tactics, item upgrade or other weidu mods at the mo. I've tried many installs with different combinations without TDD.

Regards D.

Hi Dimuthu.

First lets start with the vecna mod. Vecna probability will install into soa ( only ) but it is a TOB mod. TOB contains MANY rule upgrades and extensions over the soa game, on top of the quest extensions,i am not sure the creatures within vecna will behave correctly in a soa only game. Also since vecna contains the code of Infinity Animations B5 please refer to that fantastic mod for game pre-requisits.

But note Vecna is HARD, i advise you to play it in a "Big World Project" game, i think vecna is back in the Big world lists ( jarno ? ) and that also excellent project will give you a playable game with the minimum of installation headaches, plus it has an extensive and complete set of instructions, you cannot go wrong!

Finally jeeeeez your using windows7, i advise strongly upgrading to winxp ( if you can find drivers ! ) otherwise have a look around this forum for win7, BG2 issues, jarno's notes on installing the BWP in a win7 environment is a good place to start

Thanks Jube

Looks like I'll have to get tob back. I've installed Big World Project before and it worked fine on my computer. The only problem was that Vecna didn't install which may have been a compatibility issue as I downloaded quite a few mods. And I will remember infinity animations B5 next time.

Now, the main problem maybe permission related with windows 7 as i can't install any other mods that I want. This has not been an issue before on this comptuter. Maybe it's a recent windows update and I need to fiddle with the UAC. I'll figure something out.

Thanks again.

Hi all as promised VecnaV22 is uploading now. I am designating this release as "Vecna Beta 1" from now on releases will be MUCH fewer as my time for modding is now very limited, i will still be responding to bug threads but further dev is on hold, its still a beta cos there are still issues, some monsters have to high ac and THAC0, to many items early on with timestop immunity, a lot of the cutscenes could be better.

Any experienced modder is welcome to iron out any bugs they find, and or add content to the planes, a post on the vecna thread to let me know would be nice :)

BP Compatibility..... I think at this stage Vecna is ready to go in the BP tactics list, although designated a beta i believe it is ready. But a warning that the difficulty level is astronomic is a good idea :)

Am in the testing bug squashing phase of this quest, if anyone is playing it please post bugs as you go

I've got a big pb : it took me quite a while to download Vecna v 19 and the file was corrupted (at the end, according to WinRAR) !

Is it normal and may I download the v 21, or has anybody encounter the same pb ?

CARPE DIEM ....

In progress : Menace sur le Royaume de Diamant Éternel there.

Ok V22 downloaded and extracted fine, looks like you had a interrupted download for V19, try re-downloading if you need that particular version, otherwise i would go for the most recent ( thats V22 )

On a different note, am looking into the second phase of veca ( just looking at the moment ) which involves the players embroiled in the traveller saga, and i would like the players to have a few encounters in a friggin huge space ship, bit like conan on the death star :) :), this means a suitable perspective rendered background, i have tried my hand at 3DMax, and although i can manipulate the program, i just dont have the artistic skill to come up with anything i like ! So anyone have any ideas where i can rip a few suitable backgrounds from, old games, online games, anything that i can rip a jpeg from and size to suit.

Possibly something like KotOR but since it uses a similar engine to NWN the map graphics will be different (perspective instead of isometric like in BG2). Still, you can import stuff from NWN/Aurora/KotOR to 3ds and mess with it. There was also Spelljammer but that's ancient and even if the maps wouldn't look crappy in BG2 (they would I'm sure) I think they were top-down instead of isometric.

Infinity Engine Contributions
Aurora * BG1 NPC * BG1 Fixpack * Haiass * Infinity Animations * Level 1 NPCs * P5Tweaks
PnP Free Action * Thrown Hammers * Unique Containers * BG:EE * BGII:EE * IWD:EE
