Hanging in Irenicus' Dungeon with BGT

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to modded BGT, but I've been playing for the last few weeks and finally finished the BG1 portion of it. I had some issues with the transition movie, but eventually wound up in Irenicus' dungeon as expected. He went through his speech, his golem came, he left, and... then nothing. For some reason Imoen never shows up to free me from the cage. I've let it run as long as 10 minutes to make sure it's just not slower than usual, (the transition scene with Mae'varr took a fairly long time), but nothing ever happens.

I also tried with a 'new bg2' game instead, but got the same result.

I've installed:
bg2 fixpack
item revisions (get the hotfix from the gibberling3 forums or things will break)
bgt
bg1 unfinished business
bgttweak
banter pack
spell revisions (get hotfix from forums on gibberling3)
bg2 unfinished business
bg2 tweakpack
level 1 npcs (optional)
widescreen mod

Any ideas? Thank you in advance :)

Open the file called WeiDU.log and copy paste the info the file has in it... as we have no way of knowing th version numbers you have.
Did the 'Shadow Thief' come out and die? Cause I have the similar problem(if the thief does come...) with a new BG2 game, and I do not know the reason for it... and I have even less installed mods.

*My own mods that shouldn't cause this problem...
The only real difference I notice is that Irenicus disappears a slightly differently to what he does normally, so I would actually put this on the Spell Revisions: v3's bag of bugs... but I am not exactly objective here... so before we go and accuse the Spell Revision v3, we need to get better/more evidence.

You're right in that the shadow thief never shows. I'd forgotten that he is supposed to do so before Imoen appears.

Faster cutscenes was my guess as well, prior seeing the log.

I've checked that component and I do not unerstand how it may not work. More like BGT then.

Two seconds after a topic to accuse SR is made by Jarno...with no evidence. :D

Anyway, as I said here I don't know what can cause something like that, but I've just tested SR with "faster non-silly cutscenes" and everything is ok, thus I'd exclude your second accusation too. :whistling:

It may be some strange case of BGT + SR incompatibility, but it's highly unlikely...

Did you test in on BGT or BG2 though? BGT uses a different death variable for Imoen, which could cause the component to fail. This I know because Aurora's similar (but better :P) cutscene-abridging component did the same thing until I made it BGT-compatible.

BGT uses a different death variable for Imoen

We have it sorted then. Tweakpack uses 'Imoen' deathvar only.

Mine??? I don't have BGT, neither have I tested it - for a very simple reason my installation no longer allows to start a new game and crashes before loading (how many more times has it to occur? gahh...).

Besides, perhaps you can try to uninstall SR and test it again? Since you have but one kit after it.

If what Miloch says about BGT changing Imoen's death variable is true, then I'm 99% confident that is the cause of your problem, so don't install Tweakpack's 'Faster Chapter 1&2 Cut-Scenes and Dreams'.

It certainly doesn't explain why Jarno gets a bug, but before he reports test results, I think it's safe to assume SR has nothing to do here.

The SP(with the hot fixes) & BGT together(without any other mods) won't cause the bug to happen, so it's safe to install the two together... just did a test.
So I would say that the "~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #3141 // Faster Chapter 1&2 Cut-Scenes and Dreams -> Non-Silly Version: v9" is the cause of this, and you -Chris- can install everything else but that component from the BG2 Tweaks mod and all the other mods too.

I redid my install, forwent both the spell revisions and the 'faster cutscenes' and was able to start without any issue. (So yay!)

Unfortunately, when I made it to the circus tent, there was some oddness with Aerie, and, post victory, she left the tent in the middle of the cut-scene, creating yet another scenario where I had to kill the process, (it expects her to speak to her uncle, but she is no longer there to do so). I'm not sure what's causing that, but I'm going to do another install, and just skip BGT this time, since I'm already past BG1 anyway. :)

Just wanted to follow-up and mention that the aerie issue was caused by level1npcs, where there's a patch for the issue. :)

Understood. :) I just had already re-done my install before that was definitive, so I didn't want to take any chances and cut them both out. :)
