I recently won a Baldur's Gate 1 download from GOG.com and was wondering if BGT is compatible with this version or not. I can't seem to find my discs after moving around a few times in a few months so I am glad I won the download.
I would guess it would work only if the integrity of the games files has not been altered like changing the BGmain or file extensions et cetera. Maybe install it first and see if you can still find the folders and files like a normal disc installation.

"You have been warned, little bastard!" -Khelben to a young <CHARNAME>in Check the Bodies

Actually it would be better just to try the BGT-WeiDU and then ask if it gives problems, and make a full acount of actions made when you ask... see the BG1 from the GOG takes about 2.5GB's space downloaded, and the BGT takes about 0.014GB's...I would guess it would work only if the integrity of the games files has not been altered like changing the BGmain or file extensions et cetera. Maybe install it first and see if you can still find the folders and files like a normal disc installation.
And yes, the GOG game should work with the BGT. I only hypotice that one needs to repatch the game with the latest official patch(the 26498), not the beta patch(the 26499) that the &%/ game comes with... but the BGT should actually work with that too.

Many digital downloads will have the official patch applied since the game is 12 years old.

Yeah, the WRONG official patch(the 26499) that is still a beta...Many digital downloads will have the official patch applied since the game is 12 years old.
Yeah well hit your head again against something as patches 26498 and 26499 are for BGII-TOB remember? Topken is talking about BG1 digital download and we don't know if that included TotSC or not so I said install it and playing it for 5 minutes or less would tell what version it was.
EDIT: It is the Original Saga but we don't know if GOG changes file formats or not. I remember Gametap had a whole separate setup for its downloaded version but that was through a player.

It might be in the works since they have IWD complete and PS:T but I wish I downloaded BG2 from Gametap when they had it to see what version they were serving.

Gog.com is pretty much a role model when it comes to preserving game file integrity for modding.
