Yeah, another D&D solo/co-op game is announced. See the trailer here. I might buy it if you can play it completely offline. Where is Daggerdale? Answer behind the link.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS TO MAKE CROSS PLATFORM CONSOLE GAME DEBUT WITH DUNGEONS & DRAGONS DAGGERDALE

Next Chapter of Celebrated Franchise to Conquer Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360, PlayStation®Network, and Windows PC Download in 2011

London, United Kingdom — December 22, 2010 — The Forgotten Realms are under attack by the evil Zhentarim, as the next generation of the most popular fantasy role-playing game launches another thrilling interactive adventure. Atari, one of the world’s most recognised publishers and producers of interactive entertainment and Bedlam Games announced today Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale. Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale marks the first digital download release for the franchise on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®Network, and Windows PC Download at Atari.com in Spring 2011.

Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale centers on the desperate struggle to defeat the evil Rezlus and his Zhentarim in their attempt to invade and conquer the Dalelands. Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale is an engaging multi-player experience that introduces a riveting narrative and treacherous new characters. Players are charged with the task of restoring order to Nentir Vale by unlocking the secrets of the Mines of Tethyamar, defeating the evil within the treacherous Tower of the Void, leading to the final confrontation with Rezlus himself.

Action-packed RPG gameplay allows for solo and co-op play for up to four players. Gamers use intuitive pick-up-and-play combat combined with a wide assortment of weapons, feats and powers to defeat a wide range of deadly enemies. Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale boasts an array of stunning levels and exploration opportunities set in the richly detailed environments.

"The Dungeons & Dragons franchise remains a priority for Atari as we continue to build upon the ever-evolving narrative with Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale" says Jim Wilson, President and CEO of Atari, Inc. "As the first D&D cross-platform digital download title we look forward to expanding the franchise to a growing gaming audience."

"Wizards of the Coast is excited to offer another great Dungeons & Dragons play experience," said Liz Schuh, Brand Director at Wizards of the Coast. "This exhilarating game will be a thrill for both current fans of the brand and new players alike."

What do you know, turns out that Daggerdale is a flop. Well, I saved some money there.

Very sad. It could have been decent, if these companies had even an ounce of developer or markerting savvy.

Yeah, sad is a good word for it. Atari just wanted to make a quick buck, and it's not the first time that they've rushed titles to attempt to do just that. Atari is worse than EA, and I really don't like EA.

Might be worth rescuing from the $5 box - after it's been well-patched....

Woah, you're a big spender... personally I'll wait until I can get it for 2 euros down the line. Or maybe the 99 cents bin. :P

In an odd twist of fate, Daggerdale topped XBLA charts last week (Top Arcade Titles, Full Versions purchased). I know I'm not supposed to say bad things about console gamers, but really...?

Pretty much. I think I'd rather buy Tekken 6, and I don't really like Tekken that much.

Fat piece of necroposting.... Daggerdale is currently £3.39 (@ $4.20) for another twenty hours on the Steam Winter Sale, so at that price I figured I can afford to show it the trashcan if it's really that bad. Mind you, I did find a posting on GameBanshee regarding a Daggerdale patch and it looks as if most of the initial complaints have been finxed (finxed? Is that fixed or jinxed? Or both!).

Wow...that bad eh haha? The only game recently that I've played that made me quit was the newest Gothic game...Sadly it took me until halfway through that game before I realized how bad it was...And I am no harsh critic either...so yeah it was terrible! Good call though I was thinking of giving this game a chance myself...Ill save the $$$ haha!

Yes - that bad. As in - no sound before or after the cinematic intro. As in - cartoon characters. As in - a camera view that's uncontrollable and you can't slow it down from within the game. As in - where's the trashcan?

I'd beg to differ. It's NOT that bad. It's certainly worth 4$ or what have you (I picked it up at GamersGate at a nice discount).
- Sound; Ive not had any problem, there is definitely both sound and music (this really sounds like a faulty install/computer)
- Cartoon characters; not sure what you mean...
- Camera view; the camera view is fully rotatable and there are two different adjustable heights to it. Could be better, but on the other hand it's never been a problem

It's not the best game in the world - or even a really good one - but it's playable and entertaining enough. Also, the local multiplay is sweet, splitscreen coop is really uncommon.

PS.

I never played [Temple of Elemental Evil] back in the day...seems like its worth the few bucks it would cost though. How does it par up to something like the baldurs gate or icewind dale series? And if you had to rate it out of 10 what would you give it?

A big fat minus one. I didn't get passed Hommlet, I found it that boring/bad. Yes, I did have CO8 installed too. The only use I found for it (well, two actually) was to screenshot a couple of areas for BG modding and to use the CD as a pretty coaster.

I wouldn't really slaughter that game so badly either ;)
