I never realized how customizable so many of the BGI NPCs are! There are 6 NPCs you can legally dual-class in this game!

Dynaheir, with her 17 INT and 15 WIS can become and Invoker > Cleric with 2 WIS tomes.

Imoen, with her 18 DEX and 17 INT can become a Thief > Mage (or specialist).

Branwen, with her 16 WIS and 16 DEX can become a Cleric > Thief with the DEX tome.

Safana, with her 17 DEX and 16 INT can become a Thief > Mage (or specialist) with the INT tome.

Shar-Teel, with her 18/58 STR and 17 DEX can become a Fighter > Thief.

Xzar, with his 16 DEX, 17 INT and 16 WIS can become a Necromancer > Cleric with the WIS tome, or a Necromancer > Thief with the DEX tome. That's versatility!

Now, I know most of these tomes can't be found very early on, so you're kind of limited with the timing of everything. A quick journey to Durlag's Tower will enable Xzar to become a Necromancer > Cleric if you wish though, and both Imoen and Shar-Teel don't need tomes.

I always thought BGI had so many possibilities with all of those NPCs out there, but now I see even more possibilities with the fun tool of dual-classing!

Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be more fun to switch those things around with you know what mod. And as the tomes are really supposed to be there to grant the main char more power, I see nothing good coming out of the using them for a char that's there for an hour to twelve at most(in real time), and by the way, you can't dual into a spesialist's in BG's. That's in Icewind Dale.
Like Dynaher first be a Cleric the dual her to a mage.
Xzar Cleric or Thief into a mage.

Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

What mod? And whatever mod you're talking about, I think it's a lot of fun to be able to legally, without a mod, change NPCs.

The tomes are there to grant any character more power, not just the protagonist. Even a powergamer would agree that the only time "using all the tomes on the protagonist" is the best move is when you plan on importing into BGII. The good thing that comes out of using them on NPCs that are only around for 12 hours is that you're having fun (isn't that what the game is about?)

[and by the way, you can't dual into a spesialist's in BG's. That's in Icewind Dale.

In vanilla BGI, I've always been able to dual class into a specialist Mage. I specifically remember having Imoen become an Illusionist.

[Like Dynaher first be a Cleric the dual her to a mage.
Xzar Cleric or Thief into a mage.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here.

I think he's talking about Level 1 NPCs. Though yeah, using tomes on NPCs is a little-known way of getting some funny class combos (i.e. Branwen as Cleric/Thief or Xzar as Necro/Cleric). Most people splurge these on the PC but it's not always necessary for all tomes if you have a decent char to begin with.
