So I've used this mod before without problems but recently I had to uninstall everything and reinstall. However, every time I try to install BGT now it won't let me input a language at the beginning of the install. It gives me the list to choose my language but I can't put in anything. I've been working on getting everything working in Windows 7 for a couple days now and this is really getting frustrating, any help would be appreciated.

The input window(cmd.exe) needs to be "active"... make sure you click on the window to activate it, as something might pop up and interrupt your install process(and the better advice is of course to get rid of all the interrupters).
Further install advice on Windows 7 & Vista, read the answer #2 here, and possibly the #5.

It's definitely the active window and I have nothing else active. I also have installed the game not inside program files. I've tried everything I can think of and I can't get this working.

Did you already reinstall the whole game... from this... and you really should install the BGT before the Level 1 NPCs...

Hmm, does the language selection even come up ? As the setup-bgt.exe can hang on the WeiDU.exe version update(yes, the setup-BGT.exe is that WeiDU.exe just renamed, so t takes orders from a file called setup-bgt.tp2)...

Yeah, I already reinstalled and I am trying to install BGT before the Level 1 NPCs, that's what I was saying on that other thread. I'd had BGT installed before I had the problems with Level1 NPCs. After that I uninstalled everything and cleaned out the folders and reinstalled everything and patched them. Now I'm trying to put BGT back on and it doesn't let me input the language, the languages pop up (English-Korean) but I can't put in anything there, it just gives me the little flashing underscore but won't accept any input.

On a side note, it lists 0-5 on the languages list normally, but for #6 it reads: [CN (Then a plus with an underscore under it, don't know how to make that) 1?i (Korean)] Don't have any idea if that helps but maybe.

Nevermind, I fixed it. It was having problems because I was running my computer in Japanese.

Scratch that, not fixed...I can input a language now but when it started installing after I put in my Baldur's Gate file location it starts showing random letters numbers and symbols and it starts beeping quickly then freezes. This is by far the strangest problem I've had.

Go to the game folder and pack the setup-bgt.debug and setup-bgtdos.debug files into an archive file and (.rar, .zip ), then become a member of this forum, and upload the file to a post.

The most obvious reason why you could not write the marker you were given, is that your Operation Systems local encoding is different from the usual(a "non-ANSI system locales"), this also can reflect in the install process, as the markers are all understood differently by the process, so I think you need to set it to the English(United States) when you install the mod.

So does the debug tell you why it won't install for me?

Not to me...
I have seen that problem at least once, but I don't remember the solution to it or why it went off.

Well I re-re-reinstalled BG2 and now I don't get the random characters popping up but it still stops at the same point. If anyone know of a way to fix this I would really appreciate the help.

Eh, what exactly is the problem? I don't see any errors in your debugs, just something like this that keeps repeating:

[BG1CRE/WOLFD1.CRE] created from [c:/black isle/baldur's gate/DATA/CREATURE.BIF]

Did you already download a wolfd1.cre fix from somewhere? I don't think you want to use a modded BG1 when installing BGT.

No I've got a completely clean BG1 original saga installed and the only thing I've added to my BG2 Throne of Bhaal install is the patch (Not the beta one). It starts installing fine then it gives me one line of weird symbols and crashes. Do you think it's something wrong with my BG1 files? If so I'll uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes anything.

Here's my new debug.

It could be a problem with wolfd1.cre. The only thing similar I found on a search was this, which was for Tutu some time ago. So you could try reinstalling BG1 - clean/descratch the disks if necessary and apply the BG1 patch if not patched already.

Also, you could attach a screenshot of the weird characters you see, as that doesn't show up in your debug files.

Ok, I'll give that a try. But I thought I wasn't supposed to patch the original saga (3 disc) version of BG1.

EDIT: Here's the screenshot.

EDIT #2: Reinstalled BG1, no change.

Hey,

Had this exact same problem on one of my comps and there wasn't anything in the stickies about resolving it so I figured it out myself.

1. Run setup-bgt.exe (or open command prompt on its own) right click the blue bar at the top of the window (sorry I don't know what the hell it's called, title bar?) and select defaults, under default code page select: 437 (OEM - United States) and click OK.
2. Close the command prompt window and go start > run > cmd
(You should see your japanese character for backslash is now a backslash, if you'd like to change it back at anytime just use step 1 again)
3. perform the following commands:

cd \
cd program files (x86)\black isle\bgII - SOA (or insert the path to your bg2 folder here)
setup-bgt
0 (or whichever language you like)

4. wait for the long, long process to complete

also while I'm here can I say thankyou very much to everybody here for their time and effort spent on these great projects for a game I love.
