I've finally made it to BG2 after replaying BG1 a few times ... it seems as if one of the mods have added many numerous extra enemies ... specifically 3 ogre and a mage in the slaver pit, a boatload of hobgoblin archers below the copper cornet, and more in the entrance to the slaver's hideout .... i thought it was revised battles, but now i'm thinking BP? any idea?

i've included my weidu as a spoiler

Spoiler

i have a witty signature thought up, i just haven't posted it yet.

I think its TDD (hobgobs) and Revised Battles or Com Encounters(Callendous and buddies), the slavers might be DSOA or Revised Battles.

By the way the CC mage wiped out most of my party, mostly due to his 10 attacks per round fireshield. What a cheater! Watch out for fireshields and blade barrier. SCS2 did something to them that makes it hit anyone around the caster every second. In one round he kills character just by standing next to them, then moves onto the next victim. He was worth a lot of xp though. The slavers in CC are the toughest added ones.

In the end I swapped out the original spells into override folder to make it more normal from now on.

the thing is, i don't have any of those installed ... i did a reinstall without RB when i thought it was RB, but they're still there.

They are from BP if not any of the other mods mentioned.

Hoppy beat me to it. What he said.

I noticed my install has more stuff adding enemies to that area. But still the hobgobs and trogs are from BP.

Not deliberately...

can you clarify what the behaviour is and why you think it's SCS-related?

Hi DW, I noticed this on my last install of BWP beta in October. The hobgobs in BG1 would cast blade barrier right away as part of their buffs. Then they would eviscerate anyone attacking them, the barrier made a looping sound (you know the sound effect) which sounded quickly and continuously. The damage was around 10 per second. On low level characters it is game over in one round. I would pause the game and unpause, and it was really doing the damage every second. Only one character with very low AC (Kagain) was able to stand and melee.

Then I made a new install of BWP beta last week. The first wizards I encountered in BG2 were in the Copper Coronet. They buffed right away with fire shield blue or red and boy did they do damage. Same thing as blade barrier, the wizard spams you with the shield. The group wasn't even hitting him because he had PFMW too, but he would run up to someone and just smother them in a corner. It sounds funny but he would just stand next to them and do 10 or 12 damage a second, it was hard to run away too because he hasted himself.

That was a little too difficult without good buffs, so I found the fire shield red and blue with Near Infinity and put them back in the override. I saw some DW# versions of the spells also so I figured it was part of SCS2. Also this time I skipped the component "fireshield only affects enemies" because I thought that had something to do with it. But the effect was still there until I put the original spells back in.

If its not SCS2 I apologize, its the only thing I could think of that tweaked fire shield and had its own versions of the spells. And when the enemy spellcasters (including yuan ti mages) buff up its usually included in their repertoire.

Also I am keeping the "altered" blade barrier intact to see if it can be used against enemies by the PC. :D

P.S. The tougher trolls are really hard to beat down. Only way to make sure is to use flame arrow or melf acid arrow, or wands. Used up a lot of fire/acid arrows and they were still standing there. Tough buggers.

P.P.S. Sorry to take over the post. ;)

No it is not SCSII. BP improves some of those spells but not the intensity you are talking about. Spell50 tweaks those vanilla spells so that they are tiered by caster level but not sure if you are using the mod. Sometimes you can get corrupted spells this way when they do their damage if multiple mods try to "amp" the spells' effects, so the damage causes CTD.

If you do a weidu --change-log on the .spl files, it'll say which mods changed them (see megamod FAQ for more instructions). Also, attaching the actual .spl files might help.

Hi,

I have the same problem in BG1 part (NGSpawn add Orcs early :woot:) but with this spell, Orc Priest are really too strong (they've killed my main char 10 times in Ulcaster area).

I made a change-log
Spoiler

Which is the right tool to take a look at this spell (and try to understand what's wrong) ?
Shadow Keeper seem useless, NI and DLTCEP too.

First off, are you sure they're casting NPC_BLADE_BARRIER?
SK is useless for this, but you should be able to spot the problem with either NI or DLTCEP.

Use NI or DLTCEP and look at the spell's abilities, either melee or other. Some abilities are sounds and 3d effects so that is normal. You will notice that some have a "D" suffix. SPPR603D has the damage for example so you may need to look at that instead of SPPR603 which just has the sounds or pretty colors.

No, I just guess... :whistling:
I have opened the area with NI and seen that random encounter can put Orc03.cre into play...
I opened orc03.cre in SK and i have seen that this creature is able to cast SPPR698.SPL. That's it .

You're right  the damage is defined in SPPR698D.SPL !
But as far as I see, it is the same as vanilla game :o
Confirmed by change log :

Maybe this spell is just too dangerous for a level 6 party  I will have to find a better tactic

In addition to the lights and the sounds, SPPR698 also defines when, and how often, SPPR698D is cast.

OK, this is important too, this can alter the efficiency of this spell !

I've seen something particular about this Priest Orc : he doesn't move much
So, I've created a highly sophisticated tactic to kill this Priest Orc :woot: ... I will call it something like "FOOL ! DON'T RUSH TO HIM !", "STUPID ! USE YOUR RANGED WEAPONS !" or something like that :P ...
Sorry, but... this tactic is so... complicated... that I can't reveal it to you

Makes sense if enemies are using SoA firepower in BG1 against level 6 Players. I think the orcs should cast Summon the Infernal Host for fun. ;)
