You probably mean the BWS Beta.. it's still around, it probably needs some manual fine tuning, but it uses the base BWS options, so...

Is the beta based on the new version of BWP 9.8? The reason why i need the beta version is because i will be installing a new gui.

It was updated recently and fetches the latest updates also. But there are probably still some manual things you'll need to change, just as you would with the regular BWS installer. Here is what I did on a so-called "Expert" install (pretty much all mods possible) like two weeks ago.

Infinity Engine Contributions
Aurora * BG1 NPC * BG1 Fixpack * Haiass * Infinity Animations * Level 1 NPCs * P5Tweaks
PnP Free Action * Thrown Hammers * Unique Containers * BG:EE * BGII:EE * IWD:EE
================================================================
Player & Modder Resources
BAM Batcher * Creature Lister * Creature Checker * Creature Fixer * Tutu/BGT Area Map & List * Tutu Mod List
================================================================

Wow most expert mods nearly working. BWP has come along since a few months ago.

For some reason the setup gets stuck on searching for changed mod-downloads?

It didn't for me. Though the second time I just skipped that since I'd already downloaded the mods.

Some links are really slow though, like anything coming from China.

So its defo safe to use an expert install now?

I noticed hard times is turned off. I though that hard times and aurora now work together?

I think I just unplugged my internet cable and it skipped all the online checks. There should actually be an option to do that, but if not, hopefully it's smart enough to detect when there isn't an online connection.

P.S.: You might want to edit your first post and change the title to Big World Setup, as dabus (the BWS beta author) is more likely to see it and answer these questions that way.

Well, I haven't actually played it, just installed it (for mod development and testing). I'd still be suspicious of several mods in this category, that's why it's so-called "expert" (i.e. potentially buggy).

They always *did* work together as far as I know. What people didn't understand though, is that if you choose the BWP default settings for the Aurora "Store Prices" components and *also* have Hard Times, you will fall upon very hard times indeed. So if you want to use both, use much lower settings for those Aurora components (that is, customise them and make your own choices rather than taking the defaults) or stuff will be ridiculously expensive.

I could make a similar case for disabling Hard Times. It comes down to personal preference. Aurora's components are a lot more customisable at least.

I did not :P. I would not know, since I only develop and test mods on BWP, I don't play it. They have quashed a lot of bugs with the BWFixpack etc., but the more mods you stack on, the more chances for bugs you have. So it's a question of how high your tolerance is for that. If you're cool with playing through BWP and reporting bugs in the right forums as they come up, they might even get fixed.

Hardtimes prices i found were better. More expensive. Well i read the BWP 9.8 thread and it says that hard times and aurora work together now. But im sure because its hard times is off for the beta. Im not sure if the current beta can use both?

I think it can. Also, you may want to read this about the Store Prices (yeah, I know no one ever reads readmes, but indulge me just this once :P). As it says there, you can increase or decrease them for each component pretty much to whatever you want - with or without Hard Times. The problem is most people don't configure this themselves, just leave it to the BWS defaults, but it is easy to do in either BWS version.
