Hello, i'm attempting a modified mega mod tactics install and i have a doubt regarding ascension mod.

I've read in another thread that the ascension module of BP is not compatible with SCS II, and old ascension mod is not compatible with BP.

Since i'd like to test new BP AI, would it be sufficient to avoid installing the AI part of SCS II to solve the compatibility issue, and install other SCS II modules present into tactical encounters section, or I'm forced to remove SCS II completely?

Thanks in advance for the help!

After several hours of install, i got the damn assertion fail error regarding the songlist file exceeding 100 entries. For some reason that i can't find, bgt_music.exe haven't been created nor installed, so I did a search on the forums and found a thread talking about the problem. The solution is to remove all entries after the 99th or using bgt_music.exe.

I have two problems:

1) can't find anywhere bgt_music.exe file to download

2) I used generalized biffing (of course), so i have to use nearinfinity to edit songlist file. I used nearinfinity and already tried deleting all the entries after the 99th but i get the same error.

What can i do to solve this problem without processing another 6/7 hours install, with the risk to encounter th same problem??

Actually the real fix for this is to install the ToBEx at the start of the install order.

Well, after you made the edit, did you check that the songlist.2da file is in the <gamefolder>/override/ -folder ? And you do start the game with using the BGMain.exe ?

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I managed to start the game, I forgot to delete the blank lines after the 99th entry in songlist file. I'm a bit worried though that i will lose a bunch of sounds, since i had like 150 entries... Well, i guess i'll stick with that...

About tobEx, it installed pretty early, i'm almost sure it installed before all the NPC files.

Actually the BWP installs that even before the BG2 Fixpack ... the reason for this is that it can be detected by other mods and they won't need to install their own little versions of the .exe hacks that it allows.

Not sure if tobex is meant to apply the extension to songlist file now, if so apparently it didn't do that for me...

By the way, I can't find BGTmusic file anywhere... Could you please provide a working link?

edit: on a side note, i have another silly question: is there a mod that  enlarges text font? I'm using a 1920x1080 res and text is so damn small :)

1) Buh, you need to install the BGT-weidu to have the BGTmusic in your game folder... dah.
Desides that, erhm the weidu.log only has the BG2 Fixpack and the ToBEx installed on it... so erhm, you are not actually givint the right info ... dah. You should give the whole thing... dah.

2) You mean this. Here, search for "font", without quotes.

Yeah I have copied only the first lines of weidu log, I'll link the complete one. By the way, there is something missing that makes the game crash inexorably as soon as any NPC joins the party (included imoen at the very beginning). So unless I want to play the prologue ad libitum, I have to do another install from scratch.

About the font mod, when can I install it? At the end of the megainstall, before widescreen and generalized biffing?

Spoiler

It should be installable when ever you wish... so even after the widescreen mod.

The joining... hmm, open the TobEx_ini or TobExCore.ini -file and under the [Debug] section, set all values of =0 to =1. And go back and produce the crash again, and see what it prints out... more info on ToBEx you might have missed.

You do start the game with the BGMain.exe ? If it creates a crash, the problem is not in the mod installs but the base install... which I will go deeper if that's the case here.... though I don't think that's the case.

Too late, i've already replaced BG and SoA directories with the backups i made before the megainstall.  There were other errors during install, though they weren't related to AI or fixes/tweaks, and so It's probably better to make a fresh install using BWP this time. Now I have to learn how to modify the batch file without doing anything harmful :)

Thanks Imp for the help, and sorry if I made you waste time reading my nonsenses :whistling:

Will i miss something if I completely remove SCSII and install only BP? Another question, can I install only SCS and BP? Do they have conflicts?

Nothing too much quest related, the enemy will have different tactics and AI, but that's natural of course.

No need to be sorry, I try to help everyone and so the above might help others...

Probably I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but I still need to understand one thing about adding/removing components in the bat file.

I'll make a couple examples:

1) ToBEX

In the bat there is this line:

Call %INST% TobEx "100 101 102 103 105 107 108 109 111 112 113 114 115 116 117 118 120 121 122 123 124"

which contains some of the components installed by ToBEX. If i want to remove one of them (namely component 103 "Blindness and spell description"), should I just remove the relative number from that string (in my case number 103) ? Or do I have to search also a .ini file and modify it accordingly?

2) BG2 tweaks

This example is a bit different because that mod needs to verify some conditions before installing components:

I want to remove component 3170 "No drow avatars on party in underdark", but in the exe there is this piece of code instead of a code similar to the previous example:

findstr /I /M "VALEN.TP2~.*#.*#0./" WeiDU.log
if %errorlevel%==0 (
Call %INST% BG2_Tweaks "3170"
) else (
%IFS%BG2_Tweaks.exe %TXT% | findstr @338 | %C% >> %E%
)

how do I remove it in this case? Do I just add a rem before the call? Do I just delete that piece of code?

It's either or, there's really not right answer, as you can first install the ToBEx with every component it has and then go back and edit the .ini it make do exactly as you wish...

Same goes with the second question, I would suggest that you use the rem -command on the code lines, while keeping the structure as is...
echo off
rem findstr /I /M "VALEN.TP2~.*#.*#0./" WeiDU.log
rem if %errorlevel%==0 (
rem Call %INST% BG2_Tweaks "3170"
rem ) else (
rem %IFS%BG2_Tweaks.exe %TXT% | findstr @338 | %C% >> %E%
rem )
echo on

This must be done before running generalized biffing?

About Biffing: is it safe to install all mods, shut down BWP and only in a second moment install generalized biffing?

The cool thing about editing the ToBEx.ini is that it stays in the game folder while the other files are biffed so there's no reason to avoid installing the Generalized biffing...

Gaspare said:

Yes. But the way I would do this is to not allow the BWP install.bat install the Generalized biffing by rem'ing the line, then install the few custom mods you wish to install by hand like the Level1NPCs NPC components which the BWP doesn't cause it's way too hard to do... and then start the game, yes, it might then take 10 minutes to an hour to actually start the game as the game needs to memorize the content of the override folder... and I would then check that everything is ok, so the game doesn't crash in the very first second you start the BGMain.exe etc... and if I(and thus you) am happy with the result start the Generalized biffing and return to it a little later as the biffing is going tto take some time to do.

Uhm, if BWP can't handle that mod, how can a simple mortal like me?

Are there other mods that I must install by hand? Could you please list them so I check my modlist and see if I have picked them?

Erhm, yes, the 1201 etc... so you are sure you don't wish to make Minsc an Abjurer, and Dynaheir a Berserker... k then. But those roles are so fitting to them I can't see why doesn't everyone use them ... the silly classes that the BG1 has for them is so bad.

I've just run the bat, and encounter a strange behavior:

Big picture is present in both lists of present and non present mods, and in the summary, after I chose the widescreen resolution, AI selection line has SCS and some BP components, but I don't use SCS at all (it's not present in BG2 directory). Is it normal?

Ok, i finally managed to make my megamod working, this time without the joining party crash that occurred last time i tried.

BUT

of course something unexpected must happen, because otherwise things wouldn't be fun, right? -_-

The problem regards the language. I have installed breagar mod in both my two attempts of mega install. I remember that language of that mod was english. For some reason that i can't understand, the game runs in english like it should do, but breagar's mod has been installed with german language

Also, some dialogue with imoen (that i hope are part of breagar's mod) are in german too. Right now I just left candlekeep, so I don't know yet if other mods are installed in other language than english even though they should use english, as I chose EN in big world setup when I made the install...

Is there a way to change language of mods already installed and biffed? maybe using near infinity?
