Just going through this procedure myself - try downloading http://mirror.blackw...161G_Manual.pdf (Yazzuie's guide), it's got loads more info than the 'doc' i think you're looking at. And check out the 'BP_s_and_h_Patchv4 error ?' thread. With the provisos covered in there, I think the auto-install has worked for me now. I didn't encounter the problem you mentioned regarding TDD being skipped tho', at any stage.

if it crashes to the desktop, then reinstall; if not you've been lucky.

Eventually decided to re-auto-install BP pointing to right folder this time, but tried the above 'movetoarea' first, and successfully arrived at an area i've never seen before; so i assume that *some* files end up in the right place even if BP-Auto is pointed to the incorrect TS-Install folder; confusing! BUT, having rerun BPv161G-AUTOINSTALL.exe, i get the red error message (which i've now seen discussed elswhere), and on loading, i NOW get (i assume correctly) BP artwork on the start screens - which i wasn't before. And now the standard v4 patch works, of course, so i've inadvertantly wasted some of your time Seanas; sorry !

Couple more points, if i may:

1. Yazzuie's guide states 'Redemption-v1.2',  but http://mirror.blackwyrmlair.net/iegmc/ has the following:
Redemption (Supposedly Compatible with Big Picture)
Redemption (Incompatible with Big Picture)
where the 'Supposedly Compatible' points to Redemption113.exe, whilst 'Incompatible' points to v1.2 ... anyone have knowledge of this issue ?

2. Would i be right in assuming that ALL BP installs could do with the patch you've just produced in the "CTD when entering AR5014 - TOB Area" thread ?

I'm wondering whether it'd be worth having a 'BPv161G-AUTOINSTALL.exe' thread that covers *all* of these issues for people, until such time as the Guide may get edited.

Continuous Gratitude for all help !

Er, hate to continue to be a nuisance, but does The Bigg's comment imply that my BPv161G-AUTOINSTALL, which I did indeed point to '.../TS-Install' as instructed by the guide, has *not* installed relevant components to the correct SoA locations; or are we just talking 'temp install' folders here, so that some stuff wasn't where the patch expected it to be ?  => do I need to reinstall BP to the correct folder ? (hope not, 'tho I can of course - backed up SoA/ToB/patch before running auto install, so wouldn't have to start from scratch) ... ?

btw Seanas, i've got a 2 yr old version of Acrobat(full) on one of my old Macs somewhere, 'tho it would take me a few hours to get it up and running (and networked) - if a quicker/easier solution doesn't happen within a couple of weeks I'm happy to undertake to do an edit for you (would probably mean cut 'n pasting all the content 'cos of version diff's, but the end result would look the same, and would be standard cross-platform pdf) - I'm troubleshooting a small Mac network for someone next month, so I've got to get my Macs up and running again soon anyway (they've been 'resting' for a few months!). Mind you, I'm sure there *are* other app's that output pdf, just can't think what they are (Word doesn't, I just checked).

Hi again, thanks for the responses - RPG forums seem to be just *so* unbelievably helpful!

Seaneas:
Thanks a million for the edited patch - worked fine, and the game loads, tho I haven't started playing for real yet. However I'll just mention, in case anyone has cause to follow this thread in the future, that the filename for the revised .tp2 file has "Setup_BP ... " (underscrore), as opposed to "Setup-BP ... " (hyphen)in the original; so I changed it, and since it seemed to work I assume I did the right thing.

Ascension64 (and Seanas):
I'm following the Auto-Install instructions in Yazzuie's .pdf BP manual, and so had installed the following, courtesy of BPv161G-AUTOINSTALL.exe, immediately followed by the BP_s_and_h_Patchv4 that failed (and now works thanks to Seanas)...

soubar_v100.exe
soubar101patch.exe
tdd103full.exe
tdd103-to-103a-patch.exe
TSv50.exe
TSv503.exe
TSv504.zip (unzipped)
TSv505.zip (unzipped)
BPv161G-FULL.exe

... not sure I fully understand all the options/ramifications involved here, but since I'm just installing BP, not the BGT or NeJ variants, and am not concerning myself with 'BGT-patch 313' or 'The Longer Road'  (don't think I need to, do I ?), might this be why the patch failed, i.e. do people using this patch usually have more mods already installed  than I have ?

Couple of further points, if I'm not overstaying my welcome ...

1. I intend adding the following 'optional' mods (backing up 1st !), as described in Yazzuie's manual:

Freedom?s Reign / Reign of Virtue (WeiDu version)
- FR_RoV_WeiDUv3
Weimer?s Item Upgrade
- Weimer-ItemUpgrade-v31
- CespyAudioV1
Weimer?s Ease of Use
- Weimer-Ease-v27
Redemption
- Redemption-v1.2

so anyone know if these might cause problems with BP, as it is currently patched ?

and,
2. I've taken to playing thru with my favourite 3 multiplayer created Char's, rotating as many of the game PCs in the other 3 slots as seems logical in order to get the quests (and trying to keep Aerie and Jaheira (man, that girl is one helluva 'Tank' come ToB!) in as much as poss to keep their stats up). So, are there scenarios in the BP additions that would require more than 3 game PCs present in order to play properly (don't want to miss anything)? According to the 'Weimer-Ease-v27' docs (I think), I'll now be able to swap my MP char's out temporarily without losing them entirely, which is great, but just wondered whether I'd be better starting off with just the one, or maybe 2 ?

and just in parting, since I didn't install the 'nerfs' available in the patch, am I likely to find encounters significantly harder in BP ?  Should I be scared ?  Very Scared ?  ... or just trembling slightly in anticipation! Hoping for the latter ;-)!

Many thanks again for the help, and any subsequent comments.
