#394655 Exchanging Meshes and Textures

Posted by Najaknevrec on 19 May 2008 - 06:10 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

I'm having a bit of trouble with changing the color or "texture?" for items, armor, and clothing on Oblivion. The programs that I have are The Gimp, Gimp Pro, Photo.NET, and Gmax. Any help would be greatly apreceated.  ^_^

And what kind of problem that is? I persoanly use Photoshop, but some general rules are the same for both.

This mod adds two new sets of armour to the game. One is more suitable for evil characters - it is dark, spiky and is called Elven assassin armour. The other one is ment more for good types. It is brighter and is called Elven Ranger Armour.

This mod is more or less a ressource, so do not expec an epic quest to obtain the stuff. I cannot make quests. Both armours are shamelessly lying in a chest in Skingrad Fighter's Guild.

This is possible and in deed very easy. to say an example, if you do not like the look of your Mithril shield, go to your Oblivion/data folder and if you do not already have it, create a new folder, called Meshes/armor/mithril and place the new mesh there. Voila, all mithril shields in game are changed. You can do this with every item in the game, you just have to use a correct file path. You can do the same thing with textures as well.

#362525 Armour transparency issues

Well, it is very difficult to help with this. I guess more information would be nice. If you could describe what you have done or show pictures we would have something to work with.

#362224 custom armor in nifskope

Posted by Najaknevrec on 24 November 2007 - 11:59 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

I'm so sorry, but i have an other stupid question...
How can I send my mesh to u??

Just make it an attachement to an e-mail. One single mesh is small enogh and should not cause any problems.

If you mean the picture, I'll send it to your email

I ment the mesh there is very little to be seen from the picture. I really recomend you to use FRAPS, it is for free, very simple to use and very effective.

That sounds very strange. Well, I'll PM you my E-mail and if you want, send me the mesh and I will have a look at it.

Sorry to repeat things, but, you have taken the vanilla body, retextured it and now use it as a cuirass or armor? than the problem might be in textures. Be sure not to have any numbers and underscores "_" in the texture name and be sure to have a normal map. Also, is it so, that in stead of your armor, the boddy parts it is supposed to occupy are invisible or does it appear just wrong?

To upload pictures to forums like this, you have to have your picture hoseted somewhere. The easiest way in my opinion is going to http://imageshack.us/, create an account there and upload your pictures there. Once you have done this the picture will appear on the site and several icons by its side. click the second one from the tom and finda line starting with URL, copy it and paste here. That's it.

strange. Do you have some screenshots per chance? It would be best if you cold take a shot of the NifScope window, with the block list, so that we can see the structure of your mesh.

#359995 custom armor in nifskope

the fact that the mesh is invisible in game might mean that you have the texture wrong. Do you have the path to it set right in NifScope, do you have a normal map set right?

#359459 custom armor in nifskope

Posted by Najaknevrec on 12 November 2007 - 01:47 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

hi all, i've got a problem using nifskope with my custom cuirass.
I created a cuirass in blender and i've exported it and opened it in nifskope, but now the tutorial (cs.elderscrolls custom cuirass) says i have to set the 'num children' to 0, but i can't even find line that says 'num children'.
Can anybody help me?

You most probably do not need to do that. It was neccessairy with the older versions of NifSkope. If you have NifSkope version higher than some 0.8, you do not need to care aout children. You still have to standardise the mesh, though. Standardising means that you copy the NiTriStrip branchs of your new mesh to an existing mesh and delete the NiTriStrips of the old mesh.

Hope this helps

This is a Second patch to my mod Mage equipment. You NEED to have the original mod installed (you can find download links in the read-me Patch file), you, however, do not need the first patch!

The second Patch repairs smoe more bugs and adds new meshes - two hoods and also 23 nwe items - boots and gloves, all of them are enchanted and you can find them on NPCs, in loots or at merchants.

The First Patch

This patch repairs several mistakes and bugs. Their list is in the read-me Patch file. Them most important features are: fixing the prices of the robes and making them less easy to find

#357919 create a new body

Posted by Najaknevrec on 05 November 2007 - 11:50 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

Hello everybody, i'm new here and i've a question.
I started modding oblivion a few months ago and i'm trying to create a new race. And therefor i would like to create a complete new body, i'm using blender. I've already created the body in blender, but i really don't know how to create it so that i can use the body in oblivion.
If anybody has some experience creating a body or knows something about it, can you tell me? I would be very glad. :P

Well, I fear I will spoil it to you a bit. For a reason unknown, every race in Oblivion uses the same body mesh and there is no way you can change this fact. They only use specific textures, but the body mesh is still the same. You can make a custome head mesh, but not a body. But you can apply sour new body to every race (including yours).

#357918 Increased Weapon Damage

Posted by Najaknevrec on 05 November 2007 - 11:48 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

I don't know if u need this, but in the CS u can change the damage that every weapon does in the game by right-clicking on the weapon in the object menu--> edit, then there will be box where u can change the damage that weapon does.

Yeah, I know thisone. But with this metod, it is highly time consuming and it does not alter weapons added by other mods. Now, i know there is a line in the settings which influence weapon damage. I just need that line.

The aim of this mod is to make robes a viable choice in Oblivion. In vanilla game Robes were both ugly (In my opinion) and useless. This mod adds some 50 new robes. Almost all of them are enchanted and all of them have new meshes. I also thought, that as a mage oyu should have a staff that you can use to beat your enemies heads with, so I added some 20 new staves. They all act like werhammers, they are enchanted on strike, but they also have some beneficial effect on the one who carries them.

You can find the new items (robes, hoods and staves) just about anywhere. They were added to leveled lists, they are being used by NPCs and some unique ones were just placed in the world. The lesser ones can also be bouht at shops.

This mod is in a BETA version, so please be gentle. Thsi si the very first time I have used the leveled lists, so it is sort of possible that there will be some small problems. Should you encounter anything strange, weird or odd, let me know here: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.ph...;#entry11173396

This mod requires Shivering isles Expnasion.

Enjoy!

PATCH to this md is now available: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?automod...mp;showfile=500

Hi, I have jsut tested the staves and the scripts and they look good. At that occasion I also took some pics. There will be much more staves and they are all ready, but I did not want to take shots of each of them. Take this a s a teaser:

And a small question for you. What do you think would be the highest levels of enchantments? I mean I have the Shield enchantment on robes up to 20 points of magnitude and on Hoods, Boots and Gloves up to 4 points. Do you think it is too much or too low?
Also I have some boosts ther like Fortify Skill and Attribute - highest up to 10-13 points of magnitude. What do you think about this?
I'm a bit of a power player, so I don't want to make it an uber stuff.

#354328 Help with Blender

Posted by Najaknevrec on 20 October 2007 - 04:13 AM in Elder Scrolls Series

After exportnig the thing form Blender you cannot use the mesh without something called standardising. It is rather simple really. Open your new mesh with NIfSkope. Then click File -> New window. A new NIfSkope window will appear. Into this window load a vanilla Oblivion mesh which si most similar to your new one (e.g. if you were tweaking a legion cuirass, load a legion cuirass). You have to have both these windows opened during this process. Now you have to copy all the branches and paste them into the vanilla mesh. So, let's start with arms for example. In the vanilla mesh click on the arms. One line in the block list will be highlighted. Right click this line and choose Block->Remove Branch. The arms will disappear. Now go to your new mesh. Clcik on the arms and a line wil be highlighted again. Right click it and choose Mesh ->Smooth normals and then Mesh -> Update tangent Space (now, I'm not sure if tihs is absolutely neccessairy and it might depend on your NifSkope version, but there is no harm doing this as far as I know). Now, Right click the line again and choose Block ->Copy Branch. Go to the vanilla mesh and find a Sceen Root. Right click it and choose Block -> Paste branch. That's it. Now, you have to do this with every block that exists i your new mesh. When you are done, save the vanilla mesh where you have pasted the branches from your new mesh and use this one. You can delete the mesh you ahve exported from Blender.

Good luck. I'm really looking forward to seeeing your creations.

And some new pictures again.
Sorry I have run out of inspiration for the enchantments , so any suggtestion is welcommed . I suppose that these are the last robe meshes for a while, so now I'll concentrate on staves. Also almost all the robes have female variants now (with an exception of Mystic robe and Warlock robe, as the mesh is rather complicated and feminizing it si beyond me).

I have found and older mesh of mine:

and concider adding it to this mod, but am not sure. So why not to leave the decision on others - you. So, do you like it?

This is not a real mod as is, but rather a moddres resource. The file contains my new robe meshes along with several textures. As is it is not usable. I upload this by request of Alien Slof, who was interrested in my meshes.
The project will be continued and the meshes and textures will be added to game. Later. For further information, look here: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=756289 or http://canadianice.ufrealms.net/forum2/ind...hp?topic=7272.0.
Most of the robe textures are taken form other people's mods. Especially Alien Slof's and Tegeal's.

Posted by Najaknevrec on 23 September 2007 - 09:58 AM in Oblivion Modding Discussion

Never even noticed this post before

Anyway I really like the idea and those robes do look wonderful. I am afraid I can't be much help with any of the scripting, modeling or texturing. Just about the only thing on your list I do know how to do is add them to shops :)

One little suggestions though, I would suggest keeping them out of leveled lists as that would cause problems with a lot of other major mods (Such as OOO, Frans, FCOM) In place of that perhaps you could put them in places you can't just walk into like the Arcane University and make sure their prices reflect their power so even if someone did getto them at level one they would be unlikely to be able to buy it. Also you could give them to certain npcs so the player has to be able to either kill or steal them in order to get them (Would only work with certain ones, such as the Vampyre one)

Well, yes, this is a prblem. Tha aim of this mod is to add these things to the gam, so you can get them in the same manner as armor - buy, find in chests, on NPCs, but I'm aware of the fact that this might conflict with the big mods. I'll most probably have to come up with a way to reduce conflicts, but putting the stuff to chests and spcific NPCs is just not what I want.
