#488272 Yu gi oh card summoning

Posted by vilkacis on 25 May 2010 - 11:24 AM in IE Mod Ideas

This looks like a mod idea to me.

Anyway, the basic idea of special summons isn't bad. Especially for an actual conjurer like Edwin, having a summon that acts more like a familiar could be fun. Still, I'd prefer something from a... different source in this case.

#488794 Where are the "Valley Mines"?

Posted by vilkacis on 31 May 2010 - 01:45 PM in Baldur's Gate Series

This is not a miscellaneous released mod. Moved.

I don't remember anything called a valley mine. BG1 has the Nashkel and Cloakwood mines, that's about all I can think of.

#492490 What's your take on Hawke?

Posted by vilkacis on 18 July 2010 - 03:19 PM in Dragon Age Series

After all the complaints about that background, I kind of hope they do include a "stay and fight for your country, freedom and apple pie" option.

Then you get to go up against the entire Blight on your own, with a rusty iron dagger and a second-level character. Have fun with that.

Seriously, trying to beat back an army of orcs with the kind of resources that place has is not "brave" - it's either "suicidal" or "idiotic", and quite possibly both.

#482401 what to do with imoen

Posted by vilkacis on 20 March 2010 - 05:39 AM in Baldur's Gate Series

I always kept her as a plain kitless thief->mage (I even did this in BG1, before I knew it would happen in BG2).

Bard would suit her, but if you're going to haul Garrick or Eldoth (or H'D later on) around with you, it may not be optimal to make her one as well. Will you have a proper thief? If not, keeping Imoen as a thief for most or all of BG1 may be the best choice, but if you have someone else around to handle locks and traps, you could dual her to mage at a lower level. I don't think any of these options is necessarily more out of character than any other, so just go with whatever will make most sense with the group you're planning to use.

If you're looking for a thief kit, swashbuckler probably fits (and people tell me it works nicely, mechanics-wise). There are some mod kits like "adventurer" that gives a boost to trap removal and a penalty to backstabbing that would work well, too.

#485622 Vampiric Wolves!..

Posted by vilkacis on 22 April 2010 - 08:51 PM in Mega Mod Help

Vampiric wolves seem to have immunity to non-magical weapons only, so any kind of +1 weapon or better should do the trick.

Damaging magic works as well, though if you don't even have a single enchanted weapon yet, you probably don't have enough of that to take down a vamp wolf. You should probably avoid the area until you're stronger.

Try PSound or MF Audio.

#496727 Turambar fixes and tweaks 1.8.1

Posted by vilkacis on 13 September 2010 - 11:05 AM in Miscellaneous Released Mods

Seeing as the op there linked to this thread... yeah.

In the future, please keep it in one thread. There's really no need to crosspost between sections.

[edit] I have also merged the intro posts to un-clutter the thread a bit.

#496649 Turambar fixes and tweaks 1.8.1

If you sent a pm, I never got it, but yeah, it's possible. So possible, in fact, that it's already done.

#493601 Traveler's Stone

Posted by vilkacis on 03 August 2010 - 01:52 PM in IE Modding Discussion

Since it doesn't have anything to do with Bigg's stuff, I'm putting this in general modding discussion instead. :whistling:

Thanks. Updated.

Yeah, @1 is the name of the mod, which shows up in the "install component" prompt. (@2 is the name of the item in-game, @3 is the item's description. @0 is the version, but it's not actually used.)

I think you'd need some way to get air inside, though.

Also, it would explode if you had any bags of holding with you.

Shouldn't this thread be updated

Probably.

#492978 Summonable thief?

Uh, right. Fighters can't cast spells from scrolls either. Duh, self.

#493092 Summonable thief?

Posted by vilkacis on 26 July 2010 - 12:42 PM in IE Mod Ideas

Solution 3: install this on top of Dutka, then buy the wand from Gorch instead.

Nothing fancy, just a wand that casts "Dutka's Thief Summoning" 5x/day and "Dutka's Greater Thief Summoning" 2x/day, and I'm pretty sure I managed to get it useable by anyone. Make sure you have Dutka installed first, though, as it uses the resources installed by that mod.

Try King Dutka's Thief.

Edit: readme.

The problem seems to be that you're getting very bright outlines on them. How's this?

#489543 [DONE] [GRAPHICS] BAMs from JPGs

Posted by vilkacis on 10 June 2010 - 07:06 AM in Resource Request Forum

Eh, all I did was change the background colour to black before resizing them.

It's strange that you get swirls and I don't - I don't even know how that would work. As far as I can tell, the backgrounds in your bams are a single flat colour, so it really shouldn't be possible.

...guess I'll just add this to my growing list of reasons to hate the Infinity Engine and be done with it. <_<

[edit] You could very easily get funny backgrounds with jpgs if you don't clean it first, since the compression leaves a lot of junk.

But since that doesn't seem to be the case, I honestly have no idea.

#498465 [BG2:ToB] TobEx Release Thread

Posted by vilkacis on 05 October 2010 - 11:48 AM in ToBEx

drooling moron

Please don't do that.

And to be fair, Marvin was initially talking about a familiar-like seventh character.

#496555 [BG2:ToB] TobEx Release Thread

Posted by vilkacis on 11 September 2010 - 04:34 PM in ToBEx

There is a "restore last version" function. The download should now default to 0007, but 0008 still exists under "saved versions".
