1. What do you need? Item, animation, description...?
Inventory BAMs from JPGs. For some reason, BAM-batcher isn't letting me make these. They're turning out all mottled and with very strange colors in game.

2. Describe the item/whatever in detail! Shape, style, colors...?
I'm attaching the GIFs

3. Does it have bonus factors? (+1 thac0 - +5 thac0)
The weapon does. The ring is just jewelry.

4. What about elemental damage? (Acid, Fire, Ice...)
No

5. What material is the item made of?
Steel for the scimitar, gold and garnet for the ring

6. Any deadlines?
I'm trying to get the mod out by 15 July, so I'd need the BAM by 1 July or thereabouts

7. What game and what mod is this for?
BG2, and it's a super-secret romance mod

8. Anything else you'd like to mention?
I'm attaching JPGs. If you want to do something original with the scimitar, I certainly won't stop you, but I'd kind of like to leave the ring the way it is.

Convert them to BMPs first and make sure both frames have the same palette. JPGs aren't that great as source material, since they're lossy, but if you downsize them (which it looks like you have to anyway) and make sure the background is a contiguous green or aqua (or whatever palette entry 1 is) they should work ok. If not, I can try to help after I finish a few mod updates.

I did all that before I posted here, and it still didn't work. :(

I was able to make the BAMs, and they looked fine in BAM Workshop and in DLTCEP, but when I loaded them in game, they looked terrible. I could attach the BAMs that I made (that look terrible in game), if that will help.

The problem seems to be that you're getting very bright outlines on them. How's this?

Wow! Vilkacis, that's amazing!

Oddly enough, though, the original BAMs didn't look that good in my game, more mottled background with indistinct swirls. Not quite sure what I did wrong, since the other half-dozen BAMs turned out OK. But yours look great, so we're all good!

Thanks much! These are beautiful!

Eh, all I did was change the background colour to black before resizing them.

It's strange that you get swirls and I don't - I don't even know how that would work. As far as I can tell, the backgrounds in your bams are a single flat colour, so it really shouldn't be possible.

...guess I'll just add this to my growing list of reasons to hate the Infinity Engine and be done with it. <_<

[edit] You could very easily get funny backgrounds with jpgs if you don't clean it first, since the compression leaves a lot of junk.

But since that doesn't seem to be the case, I honestly have no idea.

Eh, all I did was change the background colour to black before resizing them.

Your bamming has improved, grasshopper <_<. I use a dark brown that matches the inventory screen, but close enough, same concept. Sometimes you have to expand the selection and/or feather it by a pixel or two before filling it with a dark colour, to avoid getting that annoying whitish outline.
