i had posted in the BP + BGT forum but after uninstalling and resintalling BG + BG2 with only the BGT i still have the game crash on me. of course everything is patched up with official patches.

i tested it w/o any mods and BG ran fine, i also noticed Imoen did not have the wand of magic missle, and when i installed BGT she did and my game crashes when i right click on it to view properties.

An Assertion failed in ChVidImage3d.cpp at line number 629
Programmer says: CVidcell larger then fx

i really want to play but not sure what i am missing.

thanks.

This sounds like a corrupted animation BAM file. Try clearing the \cache, \temp, and \tempsave folders, and try again.

I had the same CTD error today, and determined that it was due to some conflict with one or more of the following mods: Moinesse's Avatars, Subrace, and 1PP. I first reinstalled Moinesse's Avatars, but that changed nothing, so I then uninstalled 1PP (all but potions), and now the game works perfectly. Unfortunate to have to sacrifice so many cool aspects of the 1PP mod, but I don't want to lose the other two, so I guess I have to live with things the way they are.

Let's hope for increased cross-compatibility in mods going forward :)

Happy gaming,
Eric

Since you have a Mac, did you use Gorilym's remix version? http://rapidshare.co...pp_v2_remix.zip

I was unaware of that version. Downloading now.

Thanks! :)

The install of the 1PP remix went well till the installer tried to redo Yasraena. Got a fatal error parsing the .tp2 file, as apparently too many files were open (?). I'll playtest and see if all is well anyway. If anything should be wrong with just Yasraena, I'll first reinstall her mod. If that doesn't work, I'll come crying back here for help ;)

Once again, I've corrected the CTD on rest issue that pops up when I reinstall mods, but it's not a desired solution.

My final conclusion is that there is no version of 1PP (all but potions) that will work on my system :( In every case, both with the pre-remix and with the remix versions, installing that mod resulted in CTDs on rest, and in "bad things" happening with Chloe and Yasraena, because both of these NPC mods have unique items (weapons) that get messed up by the changes 1PP makes to them.

Now that I think further on this, I suppose it's possible that there's a setting in the 1PP install options that might solve this problem, but I haven't investigated that far yet. I'm just trying to get my game to be playable for now. When I feel confident that things work as they should, maybe I'll make another attempt with the 1PP remix. I'm hoping this will prove successful. I absolutely LOVE the 1PP graphics, but haven't found a way to make them behave well with the two NPC mods I mentioned.

That's about the end of that for now. If anyone knows the secret to making this all work, I'll be mighty grateful to learn it! Sorry for taking up the space with this.

Happy gaming,
Eric

I've learned that the Moinesse vs. 1PP mod issue is that each mod uses a different file format for visual elements (I believe it's about the paperdolls). I don't have the expertise needed to convert files so that they're all the same format, but someone at G3 suggested that might be the ideal solution. In the mean time, I believe the only way I can get a functional game is to not install 1PP at all. That said, I'm about to start over again, restoring critical files and then testing by installing just 1PP, then restoring and installing just Moinesse, then restoring and installing both (first one, then the other). Yes, this will take some time, but the results may be of value and interest to others besides myself, so I'll report back here and at G3 with my experiences.

As for whether or not all the mods I've installed are WeiDU mods, I'm pretty sure they are, but how can I be certain? The documentation for every mod I have states that the mod is compatible with other WeiDU mods, and uses the WeiDU installer. As I've mentioned before, I install all mods using Install-mod.sh.

The issue you describe here seems to be different than that you reported in the other thread which came across as dialogue corruption. The error message here does indeed describe a graphics issue. If clearing the folders Ascension64 mentioned doesn't help, turn off 3D acceleration and limit your resolution to 800x600 in the game configuration. If that doesn't help, someone might have to start looking at BAMs, though it's unclear where to start due to all the different mods and symptoms reported.

Your WeiDU.log file should list all the WeiDU mods you've installed (if you've installed something and it's not there, either you didn't really install it or it's not WeiDU).

Ah, that's easy, then, as my WeiDU log always lists everything I install. I'm being as careful as I can to use only WeiDU-friendly mods. Beyond that, I look for Mac OS X specific mods, when possible.

Yes, this error is separate from the dialog strangeness I reported elsewhere. Odd as it may be, I'm hoping to duplicate that dialog error in the course of my testing, so I can document it and attempt to determine the cause.
