Most people just copy there weidu log (open it then Select all then copy) then paste it in the post. Some others copy it and rename as .txt to be uploaded in the post, due to size/length. The latter results in a download of the file. Whichever you choose is OK, both are acceptible I think.

You don't have to reinstall, BUT you have to start a new game after installing the worldmap. Unless you want to add more mods, in which case you probably have to reinstall and definately have to start a new game.

You will find Ulgoth's Beard if you travel north from Wyrm's Crossing. It does not appear on the World map by default.

Of course, you'll only find Ulgoth's Beard and Durlag's Tower if you have Tales of the Sword Coast installed, unless BGT somehow gives you access to TotSC without actually owning it. There's at least one version of the BG DVD that doesn't have it (and who knows with the Polish versions ).

Unfortunately, BGT won't be able to distinguish whether you have TotSC in such an install or not. What will happen is that the game will crash as soon as you click on Ulgoth's Beard on the world map. It certainly won't give you TotSC when you don't own it, though.

In v1.05a of BGT, installation will not proceed if you don't have TotSC.

Oog. Why not just detect whether it's present and have a non-TotSC install of BGT like Tutu has? Believe it or not, there are still folks who play BG1 without TotSC (either by choice or by circumstance).

While conceptually it might be quite easy (detect a non-TotSC install and install a different world map), there are a few reasons why I don't think I'll support this.

1. I have no idea how version 5512 BG1 and version 5512 BG1:TotSC compares, meaning that I may introduce new bugs on a BG1-only BGT install.
2. I only own a copy of BG:Original Saga, making it impossible to test a BG1 only install.
3. I will have massive problems with the International English install because the lack of strings in dialog.tlk will spurt out loads of "no translation found for @" errors upon dialogue compilation.
4. The amount of work involved does not justify making a BG1-only compatible version for perhaps the relatively minor population of BG1-only players out there.

Sorry to drudge up something old, but since I don't have totsc and I like the idea of doing bg1 thru tob in one go with flowing storyline of my npc characters. What would happen if I installed the latest version (1.06 I believe)?

Unfortunately, BGT won't be able to distinguish whether you have TotSC in such an install or not. What will happen is that the game will crash as soon as you click on Ulgoth's Beard on the world map.

I'm smart enough to not click on the Ulgoth's beard icon on the world map. I also could probably make a local patch to remove said icon if I really wanted too.

3. I will have massive problems with the International English install because the lack of strings in dialog.tlk will spurt out loads of "no translation found for @" errors upon dialogue compilation.

I understand that there would be a bunch of dialog errors due to missing strings. However, if it's just due to a lack of strings. I can traify the standard dialog.tlk and the baldurdash totsc version add the extra strings from baldurdash onto the standard. Backups made of course.

1. I have no idea how version 5512 BG1 and version 5512 BG1:TotSC compares, meaning that I may introduce new bugs on a BG1-only BGT install.

From work on Fixpack, the few things I know that are in standard areas but are 'broken' or 'odd' with totsc expansion. Is the chapter trigger at the end of Cloakwood Mines and the Albert and Ruffie reward, I have fixes for both of those to return easytutu to bg1 behavior, so it would be simple to adjust those if they got carried over as they do with the easytutu installation.

4. The amount of work involved does not justify making a BG1-only compatible version for perhaps the relatively minor population of BG1-only players out there.

Actually, it might because it would allow more mods that don't use totsc specific resources to be played by people who couldn't do it before. But that's from the perspective of someone who doesn't have access to totsc.

Would there be any other funkery that I would have to watch out for if I really wanted to attempt this?

As an FYI should I actually try this it would be more of an exercise in learning on my part, but if successful in creating a way to have a stable bgt on a non-totsc install. I'd certainly share the pre/post mods that would be needed for others to replicate.

Yes, Miloch (if you read this), it would have to be a project that takes a backseat to the bg1 fixpack, my npc Solestia, and oh, yeah, documentation....

Generally, not a good idea to necro-post. Please start a new topic next time, regardless of whether you use quotes from old topics or not.

What would happen if I installed the latest version (1.06 I believe)?

BGT v1.06 won't let you install with a non-TotSC BG1 because it checks for a TotSC installation.

How hard is it to 'get access to tosc'? Does Amazon.com or any other outlet not ship to your country, or you don't have the savings? I still stand by my opinion that the effort of making BGT compatible with non-TotSC BG1 does not justify the satisfaction of being able to play a continuous game from A to Z over that of simply playing EasyTutu, importing your char into SoA, and going to Z.

Would there be any other funkery that I would have to watch out for if I really wanted to attempt this?

Apart form the fact that you don't have my permission, BGT is still in development, and mucking around with two versions of BGT just isn't kosher, I'm sure there'll be a lot. I apologise for my lack of tact, but I won't support such development.

As an FYI should I actually try this it would be more of an exercise in learning on my part, but if successful in creating a way to have a stable bgt on a non-totsc install. I'd certainly share the pre/post mods that would be needed for others to replicate.

You can try whatever you want and learn as much as you can, I won't stop you, but as long as you don't share it around publicly.

Yes, Miloch (if you read this), it would have to be a project that takes a backseat to the bg1 fixpack, my npc Solestia, and oh, yeah, documentation....

So it's not going to happen for quite a while anyway?

I'm going to flag this as a maybe, but this is going to the bottom of the pack.

You know, I have been wondering this for some time too. I suspect he just avoids it to foist the TotSC-related stuff on me, so that I can have at least a token contribution to the fixpack...
