Hey all, long time lurker and huge fan of BG.

I recently installed BG1+2, BGT, DToTSC/NToTSC, and have sound problems.

Everything seemed to install fine, and the game runs perfect. Unfortunately certain sounds appear to be missing. Combat sounds don't work, and when I click on my characters, they don't always have their sounds.

My install order was:

BG + ToTSC + Patch > BG2 + ToB + Patch > BGT > DToTSC > NToTSC + Patch

And during the install, I basically said "yes" to everything you can install.

Maybe there isn't anything that can be done, but if anyone has any tips on how I can restore my sounds, it will be greatly appreciated.

If other sounds work fine, then the ones you describe are probably handled via configuration, either by running BGConfig.exe or accessing Sound configuration through the game menu.

Thats what I thought, but after poking around the config and ingame, everything is set right. Basically everything is straight default since I just installed.

Kinda weird that only specific sounds are not working. I followed some posts where it said there is a bgtsounds.exe or something to that extent, but I don't have anything like that in my install folder.

Hopefully someone who knows BGT better can help then (not really my speciality). I doubt it's a mod-related problem with DSotSC or the like, but you might want to post the contents of your WeiDU.log file here anyway.

That is a good idea. Now for the noob question of the year: Where do I find my WeiDU.log file? I assume it has something to do w/ the WeiDU.exe, but I don't really know what i'm doing when it comes ot these sort of things.

This issue has been reported in the past. We investigated a possible issue with certain languages of BG1, but no dice. I don't know what the cause is at this time.

In your game directory, just like all the setup-modname.exe's etc. You open the file with Notepad or some other text tool, then right click, select all, and copy paste the content to a post.

The language I picked was English, but this pretty much answers my questions. I'll drop a weiDU log anyway. Also, from previous experience, would reinstalling BGT fix this problem? I haven't gone very far in the game yet.

After looking at my weiDU log, apparently I installed a really old version of BGT.

Unfortunately after DLing 1.07 and doing a complete reinstall, I have the same problem. Very odd.

You might want to install BG2 Fixpack before BGT.

There could also be that your sound system and windows sound settings might have dealings with this. Having the wrong setup(for example using the 7.1 Surround sound system with only 5 speakers) will remove some of the sounds... and so they need to be optimized.

Thanks for this piece of advice. All I needed ot do was update my sound drivers. I never would have guessed this would be an issue since I've ran every single game prior to BGT perfectly. Problem solved though!

Again, thanks for the advice guys. Time for some BGT!
