Since V14 is not far away, should i include code to check for Aurora Shoes ? ( to stop a BW install failing due to a bg main being already patched ) is the Aurora IA patch a complete subset of the IA Beta 4, and would it be enough to host Vecnas anims ( I currently check for IA and if present only copy over Vecnas BAMs , can i simply include AS in this check ? )

The code that checks and patches the .exe is the same in Aurora and IA (in theory). You shouldn't need to check whether either is installed, since it checks the actual .exe to see if it needs to be patched. Though there will be an update to the patch in the next IA coming out in the next couple days (hopefully). But you don't necessarily need to worry about it as long as IA is installed later - it is mainly relevant for BG1 character animations. You might, however, want to use some of the new PS:T animations for extraplanar creatures such as githzerai etc., if you feel like adding more creatures.

Someone reported a bug with one of your translations though (somewhere in this monster thread). Also it looks like you're using the GeN1e/Aurora prefix (AG) for some of your files - any reason for that? Might want to use your own instead to avoid conflicts.

the only files i can find with AG prefix in VecnaV13u1 ( and most prob in the other versions ) is a couple of bat files taken from aurora as examples/samples and not deleted, Sorry :) will delete them on next rev.

Yes noticed the new PST anims am pretty sure can get them in for V14

Yes :P. Aurora doesn't check for IA (IA should be installed later anyway), both it and IA just check if the .exe has already been patched correctly. If so, it just skips the .exe patch but still continues the rest of the install. So as long as you include the same type of code (just copy and paste it for the most part) you should be fine.

Cool, another job saved :)

Having a few issues with VVCs,

Am doing a really big graphic composed of 9 250x250 bams, ( split from a v big bam ), am using the VVC offsets to locate the bams correctly on screen, but there seems to be some wierd stuff going on if the offsets go above\below +-300

Has anyone seen this? , the technique works fine for 4 250x250 bams where the offsets dont exceed 250

The maximum dimensions for a BAM frame in BG2 is 255x255, which I'd guess applies to derivatives like VVCs etc. I think the offset data is stored in a single byte, which limits the value to 0xff in hex, 255 in decimal.

Yep thats exactly the conclusion i came to through trial and error, still allows a 9 panel bam, i just used the center bam as 0.0 ( that gives the other panels a max +- 255 ) But does mean thats biggest you can get on screen ( 775x775 ) which is ok for this application.


A side point, if using only 1 bam at a time the offset can go to >350 but does not work reliably, strange :), not that it matters :)

I would guess that it rolls over if you use a value > 255, like thief skills and other single-byte values.

i find my party's eperience can't be more than 3,000,000 in the BG1 and SOA part.

when i play game,my character's eperience can be more than 3,000,000,when i save,character's eperience in the saved file is also more than 3,000,000,but when i load the saved file, my character's eperience is only 2,950,000 and i have to bgein with the 2,950,000 in the BG1 and SOA part.

only when i enter the TOB part, my party's eperience can be more than 3,000,000,my weidu log is as follows:

Hi mate sorry but Vecna has no Experience patch implemented yet ( V13 ), and when i do put it in it will be an optional component. As of V13 there are no 2da files copied so i dont think Vecna could be the cause of your problem ( but i will check anyway ).
There should be no problem installing or deinstalling mods around vecna ( wherever you have put vecna in your BW install order ). As to your problem i would try installing the LV50 patch i intend to be using in Vecna V14 ( posted somewhere in this thread ), that could cure your problem instantly without having to mess with your installation ( since its not a tp2 modī, ie you copy the files to override manually )
As to the cause of the problem, there are many mods in the BW install that alter the 2da files, ( BP, TDD etc.. ) either for custom kits or LV progression, or just to be awkward ! finding which combination is doing it would take time, prob best just post your 2da files somewhere, get someone to isolate the code causing the issue, then work backward till one finds the mods responsible.

A few typos noticed in a creature list output from your mod. You have some abishai misspelled as "Abishi". Also, you have them as chaotic evil demons - they're lawful evil devils, as are pit fiends. More typos in "Anchient" Death (Ancient). Gaurd => Guard. Tannari => Tanar'ri. Ballor => Balor. You have a clay golem with the iron golem animation. Also, you have a Greater Feyr (aacre162) that has the beholder animation (should be 0x5013 feyr_greater). "Isair Lord" etc. should be Cambion Lord etc. (Isair is specific cambion). Same goes for "Greater Made" (sp.) etc. which should be Greater Alu-Fiend (Madae is a specific alu-fiend). Night Hags should get the night_hag animation instead of lich.

(BTW, WTF is a "vodka golem"? Vodka doesn't even freeze, so how could it be made of that? :D)

Urrk, yep your perfectly right on all of points, will see to it, to tell truth have not gone through demon,devils to make them fit the various categories correctly and if these are only mistakes i count self very lucky! ( also have to check which are native to which plane, thats going to be pain )

The typos come from not spell checking the setup.tra file completely, will do if for v14 which should be tomorrow ( am playing it now ).

Vodka golem........ Golem formed from 100% ethanol ( as water elemental is formed 100% from water ), hard to damage, and for F**** sake dont fireball one :)

Well be prepared for a fight before you even get to it ! ;)

V14 is uploading now, a finally fully playable quest. ( if anyone ever plays it ! ), phew what a ride.

I have been thinking and i do not think vecna fits the "tactic" tag in a BW setup. I would label it as a quest mod and let the players decide if they really want to go for it ( as watchers keep ), since it in NO way alters the vanilla game plot.

Latest is beta5 (soonish to be beta6, well, sort-of soonish).

Also, your vodka golem should probably get the IWD water elemental animation and the lava golem the IWD fire elemental, rather than the iron golem animation.

I think that's just the category of install - "tactics" is a step up from a "standard" BWP, and it's a lot better than the misnamed "expert" category, which includes buggy and unfinished mods (though maybe that's where this actually should be for now, not because it's buggy necessarily, but because it's not quite finished nor fully tested).

Yep did the anims, thats the anims i originally intended for the creatures ( actually made the creatures around the animations ).

Well tested in the sense that i played through the quest and know all the mechanics work, ( all the keys open the doors, part keys combine etc etc etc ) and a party can in theory get to the end. Not really tested is creature AI, and difficulty ( ie can one get to the end without ctrl Y ing all the monsters ). But yes still a beta, i dont think it should belong in the green BW list just yet ! And defiantly not finished but only in the sense of final touches, there will be no more areas or anything major.
Still as a "tactics" player i would have given back teeth for a mod like this beta or not, simply because of the density of mega kit and the challenge, so i encourage other "full on battle" players to load it up.

Am writing the aftermath and have come to a question need help with,
In the D+D multiverse i need to come up with a ranking of gods\heros\characters etc in terms of power.
Ie Avatars of Odin and Helm meet on the astral plane, words are exchanged, a fight ensues , who wins ? Obviously do not need to rank every creature but an overall picture is essential, and it would be useful if most modders,players agreed.
