The food thief in Cerendor Hold

The countess in Cerendor Hold sent me to the cook to find who's stealing food from the hold.

The cook sent me to the battlements. 

And that's that. There's nothing there.

Can I get some help with it please?

Lost my notes but go to the 3rd floor (may be 2nd) then go out the south door.  You should be outside.  Follow the path to the right; enter the battlement .. looks like a mini castle.  You should find yourself in what appears to be a storeroom.  There is a hidden stairway in the southeastern area (look around).  Upstairs is the gnome thief.
