Crikey, the BWS install took nearly 3 and a half hours.

I used the BWS "Recommended" settings, with a couple of additions, but none of them were item-related, unless you count EE_Tweaks adding in a wand case and key ring.  Do you know if any mods on that default setting that would screw up itemization like this?

Can you post your weidu.log from BG2EE directory?

Is this a gog or steam game version with modmerge installed?

I've got two WeiDU related logs in the main directory.  Attaching them both.

This is the version direct from BeamDog.

One possibility, now that I think about it.  I told DSotSC not to install its spells, as I remembered them being kind of... wonky from the classic BG days.  Was that a mistake, or are they actually optional?

- The logs have nothing suspicious in them

- The DSotSC option is optional

Nothing of it explains your strange setup. In many cases, these things are not directly related to Sandrah but she is often the first NPC in the game you recruit and on which you can see such weird issues. You may want to check if other NPCs, especially priests have similar issues (Viconia or Branwen or Isra).

She's got two scrolls in her inventory that don't have any kind of name or item description beyond the "Usable By" section.  In fact, ALL her equipped items are Redded out, meaning if I remove them, I can't re-equip them.

Can you maybe post a savegame of that situation?

I noticed that the Vault had an option checked for compatability with an Item Revision mod that wasn't installed.

Also, I installed the Thalantyr Item Upgrade mod, as part of the "Recommended" settings.  Those are the only "obvious" item related mods, aside from the tweak files changing things like item stack sizes and the like.

I don't have a save file with her attached, I'm sorry to say.  I deleted the save games along with the installation.  *wince*

EDIT:  I realized, I de-activated all the DSotSC optionals, including the putting items in the vanilla lists and additional creature spawns.  Those seemed like they'd conflict, at the time.

EDIT 2:  The only other mods I added that weren't on the "Recommended List" were the two "Romantic Encounter" mods for BG1 and BG2, "Imoen Friendship, "Imoen Romance", and "Viconia Friendship."  Everything else was either "Recommended" by BWS or from the Sandrah ReadMe.pdf.

I do not think that the issue is in any of those mods you mention above but rather in one of those that are/were very recently modified. All of the ones you mentioned above are long stable mods and Sandrah works well with them. The ones that may cause such effects are rather those with pretty recent updates and new components for which not enough experience has been gathered by now.

Mods like e.g. Item Revision are on BWS recommended list but their most recent update may have introcuced some unexpected side-effects (I am not saying that IR is the issue here, just using an example.) But without data to analyse, it is just a suspicion.

I'm running another install, with some of the items I added removed.  We'll see what happens.  If that flubs too, I'll send you the save file, then do a "Minimal" install with just Sandrah and the necessary component.

Okay, good news, this new install took 1/3 of the time.  This resolved the items issue, aside from the "Gift of Mystra" having no information in it besides the name in its "unidentified" state.  That may  be intentional.

I'm still having the "can't memorize 5th 1st level spell slot, or any of the two 2nd level spell slots" issue.  I've also now added the issue that none of the custom portraits are displaying properly, not even the ones added by mods like BG1NPC or EE_Tweaks.  I've never seen this issue before, except with my own user-made portraits, and even that hasn't cropped up in a while.

Interestingly enough, Sandrah's is fine.

Gift of Mystra needs to be identified to display a description.

The mysterious 5th empty spell slot in level 1 seems to be a bug of the vanilla game for multiclass clerics (like Sandrah) but is considered rather cosmetic than impeding the game. It may be fixed in the next update of the game itself, nothing to be done until then.

She currently has two healing spells in level 2 which should be displayed after the next update of the spellbook. You can use and cast these spells nevertheless, which is fine.

The issue of portraits I cannot comment on but it appears from your save that some mod has changed the default name of Imoen's portrait file to something invalid.

Sandrah's portrait most likely works because the mod changing portraits may only do it for vanilla NPCs.

Good to know on the blade, and about the 1st level spell slot.  The only multi-class cleric I've used is Glint in SoD, and he didn't have that little gaff.  The 2nd level spell slots are blank, and no spell I click on will add, though I do get the sound effect, and the sparkle happens just to the left of spell slot area.

The only portait changing mod I used was EE_Tweaks to standardize Imoen, Viconia, Edwin, and Jaheira to their SoD and BG2EE portraits respectively.  That has never not worked.  Huh.

So it sounds like that last install worked.  I backed it up, and am trying the more "minimalist" install now.  It's finally past SCS so I expect it'll be done shortly.  I'll offer up comparative results when done.

These informations are quite helpful for compatibility issues in large installs. EETweaks was another of those mods recently updated. Whether it only affects Sandrah or also other mods, needs to be seen. At least I just did some minor modifications to my mod that hopefully restore compatibility with EETweaks. For the other things I still need more data.

Okay, that save game actually made things worse.  Her items had become red again.  EDIT: Oops, I loaded it on the wrong install.  I loaded it on the Full Install and the items were fine.  Didn't notice any changes for better or worse.

On the "Reduced" install, my personal custom portrait issues were fixed, but Imoen continued to have a Big Ole ? for a face.  Which I don't get.  The portraits worked fine on yesterday's install.  What's changed?  I suppose I can just use EE Keeper to redirect to new pictures. EDIT:  Yeah, that worked, I pointed it to the picture it was supposed to use in EEKeeper, and now everything's golden there.  I bet the picture glitches are limited to the other "trilogy-wide" companions that got updated, too.

The spell issues persisted even on a reduced version.  Would you like me to try a "Bare Bones" install of just EET, Sandrah, and the Required Prereqs?  No EE_Tweaks, no Tweaks Anthology, no SCS.

Whoops, let me guess, the two "empty" 2nd Level spell slots are actually taken by that "Heal Wounds" and/or "Knock" spell she has on her casting menu?

I have to admit that I am a bit lost. Nothing has changed in Sandrah recently except for dialogue improvements. The mod was compatible with everything you have in your test installs and everything that was in your earlier large log.

Did you base all your re-installs on clean new installs of the base games?

Did you always start new games and not use saves on a new install?

Did you check that the user/mydocuments/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition Trilogy/portaits folder was empty before you started a new install?

Did you allow BWS to download all the latest versions of the mods you selected for each install?

So far you are the only one who had any trouble like that and I cannot even relate any of the issues directly to the Sandrah mod.

I have terrible luck when it comes to these things.  Seriously.

Yes, I wipe the old directory out and unzip a fresh install from a backup I made immediately after downloading from Beamdog last week.

Yes, I always start new games in Candlekeep.

No, I don't empty my portrait folder, as it only holds 6 custom ones not from the base game.

I don't know about BWS.  I run the bat file that updates BWS, and I assume if there were a new version of a mod, it would download it as per the new version of BWS.

Also, I made a couple edits to my last post, which your quote doesn't reflect.

When Sandrah joins you, she has these spells memorised:

Level 1 - resist fear, cure light wounds, slow poison

Level 2 - Heal wounds (x2)

Those are pre-selected to introduce her *Healer* personality. Why sometimes the spellbook does not show them is unknown.

Sounds like you do everything correctly with your installs and avoid all the usual traps you can step into when doing repeated installs. Nothing I see that explains all this mess.

Yeah I noticed the spellbook was nearly empty, except for a single remove fear spell being readied.  But if I go into her Casting menu in-game, those spells are just as you say, plus a Knock spell at the very end, to the right of the Heal Wounds (2) spell slot.

The casting menu is fine.  The knock is determined to be there or not when you enter the Gorion murder area by evaluating some stats from the protagonist.

I think I have meanwhile found a solution to force those other spells to be shown in the spellbook as well in case they are missing. The open issue remaining is the empty extra spellslot at level1, which is a game issue according to my information.

Cool! All the regular priest spells show in the Spellbook list, they just don't appear in the Memorized slots, and the Spellbook reports 0/2 Memorized.  Clicking on Spells doesn't fill the slots.  Right clicking the slots doesn't empty them, the way it normally does.

it's my first time ever hearing of that issue, but again, I've only played BG/SoD as an Enhanced game, so only Glint is my multi-class cleric.  He didn't have that problem.  Have no idea if Aerie or Anomen would have showed it in Vanilla BG2EE

Okay, good news!  I did another fresh install of the "Full" variety on my desktop, rather than my laptop.

Lo and behold, everything works exactly as you say it should.  I don't even have that 5th 1st level spell slot glitch anymore.  Even the portraits are right.

*headscratch* I have no idea why which Windows 10 machine I install on would make a difference, but it did.

I thought the spell slots thing might be down to Faiths & Powers, after hearing about a similar issue elsewhere. But if it was, this recent successful bug-free install shouldn't be possible. So, it's a head-scratcher.

But if the bug-free install is the weird one and there is a compatibility issue with the FnP sphere system, then you should be able to solve it easily: add
COPY_EXISTING ~sandrah.cre~ ~override~ // or whatever the NPC .cre name is
   REMOVE_MEMORIZED_SPELLS
BUT_ONLY
...to the FnP compatibility code. That will make sure the NPC doesn't have anything "memorized" that isn't actually in her spellbook.

Leveling up might fix it to. Or maybe it's completely unrelated. Dunno. But worth a try. (An upcoming update to FnP will add a scroll to any NPCs so affected that lets them instantly memorize spells without resting - once. So it should be fine even if you set up a divine-class NPC to join and immediately begin a combat.)
