Hello Leonardo,

in the few following days it is my plan to play Baldur's gate Trilogy.

1) I was wondering if you are planning to release an update in the few following days.

2) Will the new version automatically download the stuff? Because in the contrary, I will have to start manually downloading all the mods - I don't trust Bws getting the right version sadly :( - I noticed for example that when downloading the instlalpack he got version 18 but the fixpack was version 17. Sad stuff

Regards

Hi Leonardo:

When you try to make a megamod game, you realize the amount of work that goes into making BiG World Project.  All I have ever done was to modify individual.bat.  I cannot make the changes I want without multiple typos.  Usually I have to go over my changes at least six times to catch my typos. How you have managed to write BiG World Project and incorporate fixes for all those problems in the 400+ mods is incredible.

Obviously, I started this post because I have stumbled again.  I hope my problems will make it easier to help you with BiG World Project.  Here is my latest.

BG2 - Check
===========

The file 25Movies.bif is missing in your BGII - SoA\CD5\movies directory.  This one is however absolutely necessary.

Please make sure that you have installed the extension  TOB. If so, copy this file form your DVD into the folder BGII - SoA\CD5\movies.

I have two setups.  One is my old 1998 CDs and the other is GOG latest edition.  I checked individual.bat and found errors three more times.  Now I hope I found all my files.  I striped out all the remaining BWP v17 game and installed all fresh games.  However, I insure that I do not overlap my 1998 CD games with GOG games or vise versa. So far I have crashed these games six times.  Search all six CDs (I have the Bonus CD that came with the original Shadows of Amn) and both GOG files and cannot find 25Movies.bif.

The other problems I had were with the install instructions.  When I get the instruction to "Press any key to continue...", I have to press a key 2 to 4 times for the next action.  Perhaps it just takes some time to work and I am too impatient to wait.

Some other wishes.  It would be convenient to include the address of the mods in BiG World Project vxx.pdf.

Here is an example of where I get lost in individual.bat

Line 1:  Easy to understand which mod this line belongs to

call %EINSTI% TotDG "0" "1"

Lines 2:  Easy to understand which mod these lines belong to

findstr /I /M "CSeverian" %SET%>nul
if errorlevel 1 (
Call %EINSTI% Innershade "0 2 6"
)

Lines 3: I get lost in whether these lines go with the previous or following lines

if %PREVIEW%==0 (
%IFS%TotDG%IFIF%Innershade.exe copy /Y ".\override\bpbgtmap.bam" ".\bp-bgt_worldmap\bam" | %M%
)

Line 4:  Easy to understand which mod this line belongs to

call %EINSTI% WhiteQueen "0" "2"

I know a bit about DOS and I have been able to find which components interfere with components from other mods.  If there is something I canto help,  I would be willing to help.

Thanks for reading my complaints and all the great programming you have done,

Tom

The batch should continue once you press any key.

There is no check for 25Movies.bif in a GOG game because it is not necessary,

The nestled lines will be skipped in the preview modus.

There's a difference between being necessary and being actually there... as in, the .bif file is not, in the GoG version.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

In my GOG version (downloaded april 2017) 25Movies.bif is in the folder \data\Movies

I wanted to stress and second this. Most of compatibility knowledge incorporated into BWS probably results from Leonardo's findings and knowledge. Thank you, Leonardo, for your endless work on the Big World Project and aiming at giving a guide for how to install so many mods at once.

Yup, to be honest I think to myself many times that Leonardo's work is not appreciated enough. He has almost no acknowledgment for what he has done. BWS was the platform, but Leonardo's work is the core of all the things

Thank you Leonardo.

By the way, Alien is on the making of an alternative to BWS. If you have any interest, you could talk with him about it!

Based on the past experience, I would not hold you breath  ;)
