So uh... First I downloaded all the mods that I wanted, then ran the setup, and now it asks me what I want to install. But there is no option to install right away the mods that I prepared?

[1]   Do you want to choose a preselection?
      or
[2]   Do you want to filter the mods according to various parameters?
      or
[3]   Do you want to use an installer changed by your own and skip the settings?
WARNING: This option should only be used by very experienced and keen on
experimenting players. You probably will run into problems and therefore
you should be able to use NearInfinity!
      or
[4]   Do you want to install all you can get? (not recommended)

So my guess is to chose [4] "all I can get" - but then, what am I supposed to select next? I don't use NEJ3, Cliffhistory, Fullplate, ItemRevisions, MultiStronghold, Sandrah, Spell Revisions and Spellpack. Which option is suitable then?

Which variant of "all you can get" do you want to install?

[1]   NEJ3, BP AI and BP encounters, BP Ascension, Rylorn,
BG1NPCSoA favored, SOB components, Fullplate, CliffHistory
      or
[2]   NEJ3, SCS AI and SCS encounters, original Ascension,
      BG1NPCSoA unfavored, Item Revisions, Multistronghold
      or
[3]   Sandrah, BP AI and BP encounters, BP Ascension, Rylorn,
SpellRev with SpellPack, SOB components, Fullplate, CliffHistory
      or
[4]   Sandrah, SCS AI and SCS encounters, original Ascension,
SpellRev with SpellPack, Item Revisions, Multistronghold

Not playing bwp for years and now trying to actualice various mod. But if i remember correctly, i unzip al the mods i want to install in the main folder of baldurs gate 2, and select option 3. This will install only the mods you previously unzip, but not all their components, only those listed in the guide of bwp than you can download and read carefully. If you want to install other components than those, you have to edit the archive "individual.bat". And yes, it take hours to do that, specially if you have a lot of mods -like me, like many of us-than you want to install and they have a lot of components but you don´t want all of the them.

There are a few mods than are mandatory, you can´t skip install them. If i remember correctly, they are bg2 fixpack, tob-ex and  BP-BGT Worldmap .

Meanwhile I got it to work using option 2 after just providing all the mods I wanted and selecting the maximum from the subsequent options. I had to redo the install though because I have an UHD screen and didn't set the resolution to 1920 instead of 3840 during setup - and strangely it seems impossible to change the resolution afterwards, even by editing the baldur.ini

Anyway I did finally get it to run, but one huge problem is that named mobs in BG1 are insanely op. A mage/thief casting mirror image, using potion of invisiblity, oil of speed and dealing quadruple backstab damage of 46 is kinda hard to counter with 8 HP at lvl 1. And another one is summoning sword spiders. Yikes.
I made it to the Nashkell mines, but I guess I have to restart from scratch after coming up against a team of 4 duergar on the 3rd floor... Balancing that installation will take a lot more time :(

Edit: I found some information that Dark Horizons adds these insane encounters... apparently with ridiculous rewards too (+4 items). That one will have to go first

What I also did not get to work was having English voices only. Sadly I have the German BG1 version, and voices are not consistently English. Wasn't there a way to replace the voices with the English original?

Tried installing without Dark Horizons, now the installer runs in a loop here:

Installing [Creature Stuff - Inventory Cleaner (removes items that don't exist and converts them into already present items where applicable)] [19022016]
Copying and patching 10434 files ...

!1ARADAS.CRE issue: Inventory Item #2 (<EMPTY>.itm) does not exist! Removing item...

!1ARADAS.CRE issue: Inventory Item #0 (02.itm) does not exist! Removing item...

!1ARADAS.CRE issue: Inventory Item #0 (05.itm) does not exist! Removing item...          this is line 695,658 in Big World Debug.txt
...
...
...
!1ARADAS.CRE issue: Inventory Item #0 (02.itm) does not exist! Removing item...

!1ARADAS.CRE issue: Inventory Item #0 (05.itm) does not exist! Removing item...         this is line 4,902,078

Rinse and repeat

Edit: no luck, the error persists

Some minutes ago I replied to one of Your posts in another thread and now I stumbled over this one.

So, sorry for replying in two different threads to mainly the same thing namely:

No, I won't recommend to choose (4) like You mentioned in the first post of this thread but (3) instead since You're actually modifying the individual.bat  and surely want it to be used.

On behalf of that impressive cleaning loop I've nothing of value to submit.

Saw both, thanks  :new_thumbs:

*sigh*... Can't have Edwin and Minsc in my party with the current mods. Edwin leaves right away when I remove him from the group. I thought I could do that, let Dynaheir join the party and let her die a not so accidental death alone against the next group of monsters.

If I remember correctly (though this is decades ago) even Vanilla offered a possibility to have all three in the team but eventually coming to blows.
Removing Minsc first only allows me to kill Dynaheir (making Minsc go hostile) or losing both mages through the dialog options.
Does anyone remember if I missed out on some mod? I could theoretically go without Minsc, but... no, actually I can't

You could save Dynaheir with Minsc without ever talking to Edwin. Then with these two in your party he will offer to join you in order to monitor " devious witch"  :P when you talk with him for the first time, after Dynaheir's rescue. From then on you can mix them however you like, without killing anybody. Not sure if they won't go for each others throats at some point though.

@Greenhorn thanks for the advice! I'll try again with my next installation, but...

I realized some components I wanted did not install - thanks for the list of mods that were not installed, really helpful if read  :whistling:

However I can't figure out why they are left out - yeees, not essential ones, but they do add a little fun to the game:

1 - Baldur's Gate Romantic Encounters

2 - Banter Pack

3 - Mazzy Friendship

4 - NPC Flirt Pack

5 - Jan's Extended Quest

I can see in the BiG World Debug that initially there are fixes and compatibility patches for some of the mods. However, no installation of the actual mods takes place? In the BGII - SoA debug folder there is also no setup-xxx.DEBUG file, so I assume it really does not get called.

These all are available in English according to the documentation, so they were not filtered by language.

My other settings should not have filtered them either I think:

  Game: BGT (BG1 + BG2)
Quests: large, medium and small; difficulty: hard
NPCs: new introduced, continuing, only SoA/ToB content, only voiced
  NPCBanter, One-Day-NPCs, Companions
Items and Spells: easy, standard and overpowered
  Corrections and Restaurations, Cosmetic Changes
Kit mods, Script mods, Graphic mods, Portrait mods
  Tactic mods: hard challenge
Tweaks: Items Spells Kits Gameplay AI XP HLA PnP IWD Rule Convenience Misc
  Strength for tweaks: standard
including: fun mods, adult content, incongruous mods
also including: mods for experienced players, buggy mods, beta versions
top and high and mid and not and low rated mods

How do I find out why they were left out?

EDIT: I found my mistake, wrong selection "only voiced NPCBanter". However, now CtB didn't install anymore... no debug file either, just a copy of the exe without extension in the debug folder
