
New Issue, Video Freezes when I fight wyvers

Well, no big deal, I'll just reload.
This time, no encounter, get to the wyvern cave, save game, enter to fight them and bam, end of round two, the screen freezes. Again I can hear the battle going on, I can pause and unpause until everybody dies, then I have to shut down the computer and restart. Happened a few times.
Finally, I just skipped the cave.
So far I'm on my way to Baldur's Gate officially, with no real problems, but I wonder what the connection is with the wyverns, and if this will come back later when I have to fight dragons.
Anybody seen anything like this?

Also, to eliminate any possbility with any of the items you are using causing the crash as well, go in with just your protagonist, but use completely different equipment - see if that still crashes. Just a few things to try, but I don't really know what is going on.

WYVERN DEATH CRASH
I thought I'd toss this one in here so it's easier for people to find. If you have your game crashing just as you kill a wyvern, do one of the following:
1. set the game to a different resolution (and set it back afterwards) or...
2. scroll away from the battle just before the wyvern dies so that the death animation is off-screen (i.e. isn't showing). Since the animation is no longer there, there will be no lockup/crash.

The idea of changing resolutions to transiently fix this suggests a hardware compatibility somewhere.Oh, I just dug up some other stuff on this. Apparently IWD had the same problem and used the same animation for wyverns. But the Trials of Luremaster add-on patch 1.42 apparently fixed it, at least for certain video cards. Probably by patching the .exe though, so I don't know if that'll help us much for a fix, unless someone skilled in hacking binaries can figure it out
. Incidentally, I just killed a few wyverns and didn't get the game to crash (at least not for wyverns), though of course, that doesn't mean there isn't a bug under certain circumstances or hardware setups.

This problem in IWD relates not only to wyverns but to many big creatures, for example, frost giants.
