In the never ending quest to keep myself amused, I've played through a good number of RPGs, but am slowly running out of good games that will run on my System. I'm saving money at the moment (economic crisis, yadda yadda), so I'm not looking to buy a new PC just yet and am having to make do with old faithful. I've just upgraded the ram from half a gig to 2GB, but the processor (Athlon 2.4GHz) and graphics card (GeForce 6200) are not cutting edge.
I have played all the IE games (with and without mods), Fallouts 1 and 2, KotOR 1 and 2, Jade Empire, Morrowind, and I have Oblivion sat there ready to go. I do tend to play intensively so I get through games quite quickly. My graphics card doesn't have the shader mcguffin to handle games like NWN2 and the Witcher, and isn't up to spec for Mass Effect either, though it handles Jade Empire very nicely. With this in mind, does anyone have any recommendations, or have I exhausted all the options?
(I should also add that I have NWN, and played it a few years ago and found it very dull, but I've not tried the expansions).

Arcanum
Temple of the elemental evil
VAmpires the masquerade - bloodlines

Admittedly, I haven't got time to play them yet, but those are the only other 'modern RPGs' I can think about.

"Eye of the Beholder" (and sequels).

Any and all Gold Box games. I recommend "Buck Rogers".

The old Dark Sun games.

Simon the Sorcerer. And about 63 quadrazillion other old adventure classics.

Seriously, listing the games you can NOT play would be faster.

I've played all those old games (I remember enjoying Dark Sun a lot) - reviewed most of those back on my first mag. Getting the DOS ones to work can be a bit of a pain, too (I got Fallout working, though). I'm really thinking 2000 onwards.
Basically, I played a lot of games in the 90s when I was working as a games journo. My second and last magazine was sold off in 2000 (and then closed, surprise) so I sat on my arse at home playing Ultima Online for the next seven years. I dabbled with a few other games during, but most didn't get a look-in. Since quitting UO last year I've been playing catch-up, more or less.

You could try some of NWN's custom modules. The good ones are much better than the regular campaigns. Tales of Arterra is my current favorite.

Well, if you like adventures, you could always try The Longest Journey.

Elminster this, Elminster that. Give me 2000 years and a pointy hat and I will kick his arse.

My personal blog - in Czech. You've been warned.
My DA account, although it isn't tended too much.

Vanilla Oblivion should run okay on that system. When setting up the options don't bother with Bloom (it'll probably crash the PC anyway - it's buggy) but set the AA to x8 instead. You should be able to set most of the sliders most of the way across. If you don't have them, I suggest to go looking for a cheapy Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles as well, only make sure you do both of these before finishing the main storyline. Or maybe not. I finished KotN before the main storyline, then the main storyline and then went on to SI, at which point I lost interest in the game.

As a comparison, my system is an Intel Core Duo 2.6GHz with 4Gb RAM and a 512Mb nVidia 8800GTS and until I was forced to load all my internet security stuff on my games PC, Oblivion ran silky-smooth even with a shedload of mods added in. Afterwards it definately tried to behave like a very fast slideshow but never quite got bad enough to be irritating.

Oblivion should run fine on your system with a little tweaking, and you can get it running just fine with mods as well if you follow the guidelines in TOPP (The Oblivion Performance Project).
