90% of area based CtDs usually mean the problem lies in some creature that the area tries yo spawn but has some... problems :shifty:

If you wanna help debug this, open the area in NearInfinity (AR4200.are) and make a list of all the creatures it contains. Then go to some area that doesn't CtD and try to CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("XXXXXX") where XXXXXX is from the list you made :D

If any creature makes your game go boom... you know what to report :D

Thanks for the reply Lollorian.

I'm using BW Map v.7, there is only one cloud peak area here, south east to the Nashkel mines.
Area 4200 turned out to be Dryad Falls Area :)
After a while it turned out to be that Cloud Peaks area on my map are AR4600 :)
Anyway I did what you suggested and spawned all creatures from the area(Samuel, Lena etc)
None of them were causing CTD.

It most be something else than.

Oh well Ill survive without that area ;)

Thanks again for your help.

As far as I know (read : very little), this can be a creature spawned by a BCS script (in particular by the area script).

Post the contents of your baldur.err file any time you get an area crash and also try the Area CRE Checker on the area to figure out if it's a botched CRE (which also checks the area script).

It is just a text file - just open it with Notepad (or whatever) and copy and paste the contents here (if there's anything other than "Start Logging Session" markers - there should be if you have logging enabled and it was a engine-recognised crash).

Many of these errors are when I was trying to start Bone Hill, as soon as I teleported, CTD

Last one was from cloud peaks as I wanted to recreate the error

Miloch this is a gr8 program you've created.
In the game when I did in game test, I got done and done, no crashes.
However log does contain some errors, but area codes don't match Peldvale or Cloud Peaks where I get CTD.

I'm posting that log anyway.

Regards

That is odd because the .err file seems to say there's a missing CRE. Does the crash happen as soon as the area loads, during the loading bar or when you're traveling to the area (like where there'd be random encounters)?

Why does it seem like the missing CRE in this thread, your missing TIS from BoneHill, 10thLich's missing files and WeiDU 230's D_F_K bug have something in common?

Be afraid... very very afraid

That's interesting.

Cloud peaks is not in my BGT installation, at least with that name.
http://kerzenburg.ba...ead.php?t=35175

(search for cloud and you won't find anything there, there is lonely peaks though)

Maybe the worldmap changes the name?

Edit: I see that it does.
I went to dryad falls (AR4200) just fine. When i installed i had
WeiDU (version 23000: "Unpaid overtime sux")
for most of the time except for during altered knock install (that failed due to the D_F_K bug). Maybe the bug is random, or maybe it is not the cause.

Yes it seems it does depend on the worlmap version, the area is AR4600 which is cloud peaks in my installation, but on a different map it's Gibberling Mountains (I double checked, exactly the same area, south east to nashkel mine and same creature/actors in the area).

The name change is from this quirky little mod :D

BGT & Worldmap use the same names AR4200.ARE (Western Cloudpeaks) and AR4300.ARE (The Cloudpeaks)

With Miloch's mod installed, AR4200.are (Dryad Falls), AR4300.are (Fire Leaf Forest) and AR4600.are (Cloud Peaks)

Yeah, i hadn't gone there (cloud peaks - AR4600) yet.

It loaded just fine for me - but then again, i limited my amount of mods.

Well, the log contains no CREs from anywhere near the Cloudpeaks AFAICT. Also, if the in-game test worked, it's not a CRE problem, not an item issue nor an animation issue. So that leaves a possible area or tileset issue. Yet the error message suggests a CRE issue which is why it's odd - maybe that was an .err log from something else? Does it crash if you start a brand-new game with a pregenerated char and console to the area?
