Can't get Adrian's quest

Hi, so... i wanted to try this npc since he seems like i'd like him (i'm in love with Edwin so any not too good npcs are welcome) and i've been playing for almost 5h now and Adrian said nothing about his quest.

I read that it should start after 5th talk, i was at 11 so i used Keeper to move it back to 5, i got the talk about thieves and adventure (i think it was) and 1h later the RH#ADRIANTALKS is again at 11 and still nothing. 

I didn't move out of the city and now i don't know what to do.

 

PS: i know nothing about variables and stuff, i hope is RH#ADRIANTALKS the stuff i should look at

The quest starts with Tanya Damarov appearing

It starts when you reached Global("rh#AdrianTalks","GLOBAL",11) so that is fine

Other conditions are

- 500GP or more

- outdoor in a city area

- Adrian in Party

- Global("rh#DamarovQuest","GLOBAL",0)

 

If you find that last global to be 1 etc, then you might have missed that lady when she spawned due to some other event maybe having intercepted.

 

You can try to solve it with console

SetGlobal("rh#DamarovQuest","GLOBAL",1)

CreateCreature("rh#tanya")

I  searched the whole Global variables 10 times but i never found "rh#DamarovQuest" (weird).

In the end i wrote it myself then created Tanya with the console and now she talks to me.

 

Did i mess up something if i did so? Or can i continue?

And thank you.

At the end of her conversation there should be some reaction from Adrian and some Journal entry. Read that and you should have a hint of how to progress the quest. Until you solve it, Tanya will reappear at intervals to get more money.

 

Everything should be fine right now, there is little you could have messed here.

Hey, just a couple quick questions:

 

1. How long did you wait after seeing the 5th talk? It should be 45 minutes before the quest starts, so it may be that enough time hadn't passed. (If I remember correctly, CTRL+T is how to advance time in the game via console.)

 

2. What version are you using? In case this is a bug I somehow introduced with the latest update.

I noticed that he wasn't giving me a quest about 2-3h (rt) after i took him in and the variable was at 11 then. I read that it should trigger after the 5th talk so i changed it to 5 and played another hour, the variable went again to 11 and  nothing after that.

(I went to see a earlier save and it was past 10 days in game when i noticed that he remained at 11)

 

 

I installed the mod yesterday, v4.

Just to make clear - 5th talk and the global being 5 are different things, because it increments by 2 on every talk. So 11 is indicating *waiting for 6th talk*, which is in fact not a *talk* but includes Tanya's appearance.

 

@Rhaella >>> there is also a chapter check involved here. Maybe there is something wrong in the way you set chapter globals for EE vs EET in the new version?

Yep, I forgot to EVALUATE_BUFFER on literally everything!

 

Iris, I just uploaded a v4.1. You're going to want to uninstall v4.0 and use this one instead, because there are going to be additional problems with the version you have right now. If you have too many mods installed to make that a feasible option, you should also just be able to drop the affected files directly into your override folder. If you want to do that, let me know whether or not you're using EET and I can upload the files for you here.

Just downloaded the new version and works great. I have 6 new npc + 3 mods so i just unistalled. I am playing just Bg 2 ee.

 

I just got the outside rest talk (i read that it's good). The mod is awesome btw, i really like his personality even if, playing just BG with years differences between the 2, there are a lot of mentions of new locations and people so it's hard to get his tales (but i will inform myself since i think that he's worth paying attention to).

 

 

And thank you to both of you, and again, thanks Roxanne for explaining the variable stuff, i knew that there was something i didn't understand correctly.

Hello, Rhella.

 

Are you still offering to provide the necessary override files? I have a good chuck of mods installed and reinstalling the new version would probably mess up my gamefiles.

 

Your mod is great, btw.

 

Edit: I play BG2 EE, not EET.

I'm actually worried about broken transitions if I try to just replace dialogue files manually, but the affected scripts themselves should be safe to just copy over. There will be some interjections that don't trigger, but nothing game breaking. Though I would back up the old files just in case.

 

Also, if you had a version earlier than 4.0, you don't need these files.

I hope you don't mind another question. Is there a 'changes made' section for 4.2? Or is the 4.2 update only relevant of EET users?

Oh, I'd tried to steamline some of the coding for BG2EE content with v4.1 and didn't update the strings properly, so all the Beamdog banters were broken. That's the danger of walking away from weidu for a couple of years--I've forgotten everything. ^_^

 

You shouldn't have to worry about it if you have v4, though.

 

Though speaking of strings, I realized a bit belately that one of the files I gave you above (rh#ad25p.dlg) isn't going to work properly. If you try to remove him from your party in ToB, you're going to get nonsense lines in response. If you use the original file, you'll only be able to remove him from the party without him disappearing forever in the pocket plane.

Ah, I see. Thank you for your fast reply. I don't plan to drop him through the course of SoA and ToB, so him being bugged when kicked out of the party won't be a problem. I plan to mess around with my BWS setup anyway once I finish this one play through(there are some mods that make my game not properly boot up, so I had to take them out). Then I can just pick up the newest version.
