and I think this feature whould have been included from much earlier, I mean, have you actually looked through the TLK of bg2? I have and I have found that there are many many instances where there are 4, 5 or more strings that are almost exactly the same aside from a word or 2, a complete waste...even in the so called "stripdown" core tlks there are many strings that are duplicate and sshouldn't be in there, when I did the tlk for the TotSC stripdown I cut nearly 300kb from it from duplicate or nearly duplicate strings...and this was from the 'STRIPPED' tlk
