The developers have said the demo these screens are from is not indicative of the actual game. Here a quote from one of the programmers:

I also remember them saying a long while back that much of the demo was simply lifted from NWN, but unfortunately I cannot find the quote.

I tried to look for that, but couldn't find 4.2, only older versions. We have some OpenGL driver, but I don't know which. Newest, I suppose, because this is a brand new iMac anyway. My hubby is asking tomorrow this from the place where we bought this, if they would know better. Or then we will have to get another card, if that is possible.

I hope there will be some solution, the atmosphere of the game suffers from this :(

If KOTOR is not going to be the most graphical intense game you plan on using anytime soon, you should really replace that video card; The Geforce FX 5200 is a real piece of crap. I had a Geforce 3 ti200, a 4 year old card, prior to getting an FX 5200, and was appalled when I discovered no increase in performance, and in some cases (like KOTOR) a decrease.

videocard NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra

I believe this is your problem right here, there are some well known issues with this card on the Datoon level. I myself didn't have datoon problems until I "upgraded" to the FX 5200. There is/are some graphics card drivers that can fix the problem, unfortunately I do not where to find them.  :(

Edit: I did a little searching and it seems you will need to download the 4.2 OpenGL drivers for this.

But you have a mac. I don't know if they make the drivers for that platform.  :(

It says that Carth is 38 on the official website :). The only other one I know is Canderous, I remember reading on one of the Kotor forums that mandeloreans start fighting at 15; 15 + 40 would make Canderous 55.

The following are some comments that came up when we were working on a certain project of mine (not Beyond the Law). I have not written any dialogue for that Mod so far, but I think the following would be part of what makes or breaks a Mod's dialogue/banter sections.

=============

One issue that I have with many many NPCs is the absence of conflicts with Bioware NPCs, and usually alarm bells start going off the moment I see an NPC who
- manages to out-talk Edwin easily
- manages to make Anomen admit that he/she fights much better than him
- manages to out-insult Viconia
- manages to make Jaheira agree to their every word
- manages to make Keldorn put down his austere side and play with them
- manages to get Aerie from crying to grinning in a few sentences
- manages to make everyone else look stupid
- manages to get along with everyone else
- manages to make everyone else really like the person
- manages to immediately cause many of the members of the opposite gender in the game to fall head-over-heels in love with the person
- manages to fight better than everyone else in the game, and other NPCs give fanservice in the banters
- manages to cast spells better than everyone else in the game, and other NPCs give fanservice in the banters
- (and this last one I hate the most) is described to be so incredibly lovely and smart he/she makes you immediately become like a nervous idiot in front of him/her and make all the other romance alternatives look like ugly stupid pigs/sows queueing up (oh yes I actually came across one that fell into this category... major ouchies. The moment her first banter hit me I immediately expelled her from my party)

You forgot "manages to intimidate Korgan"

that's worse than the others, in my opinion.
