Thank you for fast answer!

The file should be in the <gameinstallfolder>/CD2/Data

And it is.

The file should be in the <gameinstallfolder>/CD2/Data

Here it is how it looked initially, the path at least is as expected.

HD0:=C:\BGII - SoA
CD1:=C:\BGII - SoA\CD1\
CD2:=C:\BGII - SoA\CD2\;C:\BGII - SoA\CD2\
CD3:=C:\BGII - SoA\CD3\
CD4:=C:\BGII - SoA\CD4\
CD5:=C:\BGII - SoA\CD5\

Note that DATA/AREA040D.bif is not the only area file missing.

For you first BWP install i strongly suggest to use BWS with "Minimum" components list.

I used to play with weidu mods some years ago, before BWP emerged.  Now it's all or nothing ;)

Well yes, that for sure. I have nothing against flooding dungeons with dragons (duh), demons and demigods, but mods could try to stay as close to original as possible. Especially in BG, which is otherwise very consistent in terms of lore and storyline.

Planar Sphere Mod has unbelievable storyline, but at least it pretends to stay within the realm.

That being said, i doubt I'll ever get the chance to play it :v

Okay now, why does the batch script dive so deep into my system? There is nothing to find in there, it takes hours and antivirus is getting suspicious.

EDIT: It seems that at stage 26 scripts checks all of files on my disk, as if 200k+ files of BWP alone were not enough... what a waste of time.

you have to extract ia and its files with the new codepage.

What is "ïa"?

Thank you for your answer.

I tried that. Vecna still didn't install (got some more info in its thread), but at least installer finished. At least i think so, had to close the console manually and couldn't run the game (Baldur.exe  remained as 0-byte file). Looks like I need to start it all over :/
