#603706 Almateria's Restoration Project joins SHS

Posted by Creepin on 30 July 2018 - 07:27 AM in Directives from the Director

Almateria's Restoration Project has been well known and gathered popularity for years now. It started as a restoration of unused sounds, but then it become much more than that. Today it includes many components that bring back items, characters, encounters, dialogues and many many other things! It is a great option for those who are fishing for unfinished business-kind of content as well those who enjoy seeing new bits here and there. Note that the mod affects both Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal content. It should also work fine on BG2EE.

ARP has just been updated, and we are happy to use this opportunity to give a recognition long due: to welcome that mod among all the other SHS projects, and welcome the author, Almateria, among SHS modders.

#602850 Athkatlan Grounds - new mod series at SHS

Posted by Creepin on 19 June 2018 - 04:43 AM in Directives from the Director

I am happy to announce that new mod series is now available at Spellhold Studios. Athkatlan Grounds has a very specific aim - to make Athkatla, our well-konwn BG2 city more interesting by introducing new places, quests and encounters. Mods that are already released:

Southern Edge - this mod has already been available for a while. It introduces a brand new district with its own quest and characters, like Mairo Mudclapper: a halfling arcanist in need of some help in trackig down dangerous parasite hiding somewhere in the district.

Ooze's Lounge - that brand new mod adds a new part of sewers. It can be entered through the grate next to Jansen house... but you must first find the key lost somewhere in Athkatla. The mod adds new areas, mini-quests and some new, quite unusual merchants.

Both mods are available for both old BG2 and BG2EE, even though they were made with EE in mind.

#605666 Baldurs Gate Trilogy getting new release 1.19

We are happy to announce that BGT, one of the modding staples since the dawn of times, has finally received yet another update after almost six-year long hiatus. • One of the piles in the werewolf caverns was using a bag container icon
  • Added a delay for the playing of the BG sunrise/sunset movies to avoid repeats

#605908 Baldurs Gate Trilogy getting new release 1.20

Posted by Creepin on 20 February 2019 - 11:40 AM in Directives from the Director

It is with great pleasure we are announcing latest shiny BGT release, which is another update over recent v1.19, done again thanks to the tireless efforts of CamDawg! This new version contain fixes to reported bugs of 1.19, insight into original developers' intent and leftover fixes from the Big World Fixpack.

Changelog:

Installation changes

  • Fixed bug where a typo in the 1.19 music fixes could prevent installation of the music pack (thanks to Salk and Lunareon)

Incorporated the following fixes from the Big World Fixpack

  • Typo fixes (thanks to Salk)
  • Fixed systematic bug where NPCs leaving the party would often use the wrong dialogue or just not leave, especially when they were leaving due to reputation/alignment conflicts (thanks to Lunareon)
  • Cloak of the Nymph could be sold for 40x its value due to a charge issue (thanks to Lunareon)
  • Fixed bug with Candlekeep missing its patrolling guards (thanks to Skellytz)
  • BGT was following Fixpack's lead in removing Zone of Sweet Air from Jaheira and Holy Smite from Viconia sue to class/alignment conflicts. However, Fixpack has since confirmed with the devs that these are intentional, and as such BGT now leaves them in place (as does Fixpack)

#602591 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Creepin on 04 June 2018 - 04:42 AM in Mega Mod Help

Is there anyway to disable the automatic download (it's a huge waste of time when it's re-downloading Portraits when nothing has changed)

Not an answer per se, but have you tried to point SHS to the same download folder where you keep previously downloaded archives? SHS should skip all downloads that are consistent in name and size with files already present in the folder you pointed it to for downloads.

I would be grateful if moderators could update first link int this thread.

Sure thing, done.

#605122 BWPv18 released

Posted by Creepin on 24 November 2018 - 03:02 AM in Mega Mod Help

You will find here why you can't download it anymore.

Or you can grab it here :)

As for Sandra, BGT version was thoroughly removed by the author from SHS downloads, even archive versions (a feat I thought to be impossible). You could find few of 1.06 beta releases still available here or may be someone has 1.11 stored and could share. I have some odd 1.10/1.09 versions on my HDD, never cared for it enough to grab 1.11 when it got released.

There's a working link to v16 in the very same post where Kish announced its release ;)

Hmm, could it be that you're trying to use non-cracked version of BG? I'm not 100% sure but what you described reminds me of how non-cracked version would act, so a good no-cd should fix that. Drop me a PM if you need one :)

Heya tomkaz! I am really sorry I can not be of an actual help, as I haven't used BWP for many years and this is the first time in my life I'm hearing about config crashing on colour test :(, but I'd be grateful if you could share more information on what kind of problems were you encountering/got reported about these mods you have listed, or, more precisely, this one :)
I did get some information about the mods I choose. Here are the problem mods

Thrown Hammers - I have 6.02 and can share if you need it. On the side note - this is the evils of that darn "master" releases of github, where each new version overwrites and pushes to oblivion previous version.

Huh? Nop, not true, you can download previous mod version from here: https://github.com/S...ammers/releases even without releases, all previous mod version are available for download from repository itself.

This is in fact great, thank you for the example (tomkaz, there's just 6.01 you've missed under the link)! The idea of github getting rid of version numbers and making older versions unavailable was my main issue with it, but it looks both assumptions were wrong.

Tomkaz, about The Old Gold v0.1 - you are safe to upgrade it to v0.2. I am testing it right now installed on top of readied BWS game and all seems fine, as far as BG1 part goes at least. I especially recommend that if you are using 1PP as I fixed some misalignment in mod's graphics with 1PP's paperdolls.

IWD Item Pack got downloaded, extracted and launched fine for me. Same goes for IWD Item Fix. Have you tried those in the first and the last posts of this thread, respectively?

aTweaks v4.53 - can you clarify "not worked"? Failed to install, failed to even launch? By the way, if a mod package misses its exe (it happens, rarely) you could create it by making a copy of setup-smth_else.exe and renaming it into Setup-atweaks.exe for example. This is essentially the same file with different names.

Tomkaz, in case CTRL + r and Greater Restoration won't help, can you attach saves: with your main character drained and with him healthy (for comparison)? Perhaps the drain was implemented badly in some mod vampires and it could be fixed manually.

If spellbooks work as intended (not borked during installation) they should be learnable by spellcaster in the same way as scrolls in vanilla. Try r-clicking one with your mage, there should be button for learning spells from that book.

#605037 Changing Mod Setup

Posted by Creepin on 16 November 2018 - 03:42 AM in Mega Mod Help

I have no idea about romance cheat. Installing "Adjust XP" second time might very well work, you just had to keep in mind that current, already adjusted, amount of XP will be treated by installer as 100%.

#604060 Comments on the Rogue Rebalancing releases

Posted by Creepin on 13 August 2018 - 10:19 PM in Rogue Rebalancing

So I cannot figure how to create the setup-rr.exe file.

Setup-*.exe in every mod is the same WeiDU exe renamed to follow given mod's name. Thus all you need to do is to download ANY mod where setup-that_mods_name.exe is present and RENAME that .exe into setup-rr.exe.
Now of course there's different versions of WeiDU exe, like, v.1, v.2 and so on up to v.230 or whichever is the latest, so you should preferably get your donor .exe from the mod updated/release in this year, just in case (as Jarno said), but with RR being as old as it is you would do fine even with .exe version of 2015 or something.

I get the impression the Rouge Rebalancing v4.92 is missing the Setup-......exe file.  Any chance to find it with another site?
Just take any other setup-X.exe and rename it to setup-rr.exe, you are all set :)

#604089 Comments on the Rogue Rebalancing releases

Posted by Creepin on 14 August 2018 - 07:59 AM in Rogue Rebalancing

I've moved the discussion from BWP18 to here because it was getting all the more offtopic there.

Regarding starting your modding career it would still be offtopic both here and on BWP18 thread :D , so you might want to start a proper thread in IE Help subforum to increase exposure, but I won't split it further unless it blows off proportion here as well :) So, I don't know if my experience could be considered mainstream, but when I started modding I first figured what I want to do and then peeked at other's mods dabbling in the chosen genre learning how they did the same. Unless you're a programmer by trade you might want to stick with older mods at first because they used much simpler weidu back then, and when you are comfortable with the general concepts expand your study to modern things like LPF. That's what worked for me anyway. There are also places with tutorials on this and that (1, 2, 3 and 4 comes to mind), but even with these it's worth it to decide what do you want to do first :)

That's a generous offer I wouldn't miss for no hurry in the world :) I'll drop you details in PM shortly.

#602231 Creepin's various WeiDU questions of varying silliness

Posted by Creepin on 03 May 2018 - 01:58 PM in IE Help

I believe--and I'm sure I'll be corrected if this isn't accurate--that the engine rolls for saves on an item/spell once and at the time of the attack.
Thank you for an explanation! There goes down the drain my shield of +2 to save vs. petrifying gaze. And to think I've already made paperdoll and icon for it :(
Have you tried to delay the effect a second for the save throw to get reduced ? -got ninja'ed-
Nope. Will certainly try it out, thanks! :)

Edit: hmm, what field should I put delay amount to? "Special" (in terms of NI)? Or perhaps I should externalize it into Eff v.2 and use parameter 3?

#602258 Creepin's various WeiDU questions of varying silliness

Posted by Creepin on 04 May 2018 - 03:34 PM in IE Help

Thank you, this is an elegant idea but alas, not only I do lack #326, I'm also reluctant to touch main engine of basilisk gaze attack item: it is not a spell but embedded effects in vanilla, which at some point changes into .spl in Big World, so I will had to dynamically read and wrap said engine into my custom .spl - a feat I wouldn't dare even with the help of the community...

wait... ok it's 2AM so I might be wrong but...

subtledoctor, that is in fact brilliant! What if I insert, as a first effect, toned down by -2 version of the main gaze engine AND block original not toned down attack? That could actually work perfectly "on the old & busted engine" :P Now I wonder what will happen if I will give immunity to the gaze projectile from the middle of the stack of effects in this very same projectile

Hmm, do I get it right that I should put that (or rather translations thereof) in .tra files of my mod?

UPD. Indeed, forum software acting up lately :(
