#108085 Imoen's hair color is infectious

Keldorn the Raver.  The most notorious of the Order's ravers, Keldorn has been seen shakin his codpiece from Waterdeep to Calimport.

Love these...

#108261 Love titbit (minor spoiler)

Posted by VigaHrolf on 05 April 2004 - 12:29 PM in Return to Windspear

Hey. Just to blow the spread on this, I'll comment. :)

I think it is quite interesting, although the opening part is hard to to assess considering the lack of context. I imagine it some sort of vision or whatnot. But, it is interesting nonetheless.

As to Jaheira's response, the words are definitely in character for her. The light kiss I think is also a nice touch. You capture the stern/sweet thing. :D

----

Also, I would have to agree that the Jaheira romance is the richest and fullest of the major romances, one that ties so well into the rest of the game, even if it is buggy. Always been a fan of it since I gave it a spin.

#108542 Renal Bloodscalp dialogue

Posted by VigaHrolf on 07 April 2004 - 08:39 AM in Chloe

I guess one could look at this as 'Hand Cannon Syndrome'

That is, Renal is looking down the barrel of a large gun and its pointed at his head. That is Chloe and her new friends. He wants to save his skin.. yada yada. That could intimidate, but I would agree it doesn't quite fit.... but not in my opinion for the intimidation factor but in the unwillingness to pay. If you hire mercs and don't pay them, you won't get more mercs. At least good ones. That would weaken his position as would his breaking 'business deals'

Now a few of his associates coming to visit later on and trying to get Chloe with some poisoned daggers or such, that would help it out, reinforce it a little.

Just thinking out loud here. Course it never really bothered me when I saw the scene. *shrug*

#108575 Renal Bloodscalp dialogue

Posted by VigaHrolf on 07 April 2004 - 10:53 AM in Chloe

Okay, we have Renal, the high level leader of an organization, and angry, armed, and extremely quick person with in arms reach. To quaff that potion, he needs to grab said potion, uncork, drink and wait for it to take effect. Call it 5 seconds at best. All someone has to do is unsheath and slice. And I've seen a 70 year old man unsheath a katana so fast I could barely even see it. Chloe's faster and younger. Call that 2-3 seconds. Renal still loses, or at least its real real bad odds.

Also, the backstabbing... to backstab, one must be unobserved to strike. In a combat situation it would not be the easiest to hide in the shadows. Now with magic you can, but that magic can be countered. I mean in the game, you can be standing in plain sight, hit the button and you're hidden which is just more than a little ridiculous. So I doubt that the party, prepared and ready, would be 'backstabbed into ribbons'.

Yes, it probably leads to a bloodbath. But Renal I doubt really wants to die.

This is just my opinion. *shrug* But I do think that the various and sundry opinions have been made and the modmaker had her say, so let's give her a break, huh?

#108656 Comments on Losing Grip

I remember this piece as well. A most excellent bit of writing, one I am glad to read again. Glad to see its made its FWS debut. :D

#108657 Comments on "Witches"

Posted by VigaHrolf on 07 April 2004 - 06:34 PM in Scribbles on the Wall

Bwahahaha... now that is a funny funny tale. Its amazing what bored kids will come up with with a little ale in the bellies and not enough sense in their heads.

And loved the Beavis and Butthead routine. :D

Bey,

A wonderful read once again. Always fun to read about a namesake, and this is a most excellent tale for this young lady. Maybe we can convince you to write another? Give us a little more on young Bey.

And also, its always nice to see a punk getting his just rewards.

#109014 Comments on "Where o' where can Aerie and..

Posted by VigaHrolf on 09 April 2004 - 11:49 AM in Scribbles on the Wall

Discharger...

A humerous tale, but it could use some style work. What my co Mod suggested above, that you seperate out your dialogue into seperate paragraphs... such as

"So, dude, wanna beer?" asked Neeber. "Sure." said Noober. "Cool, bottoms up!"
is harder to read than

"So, dude, wanna beer?" asked Neeber.

"Sure." said Noober.

"Cool, bottoms up!"

You get much better seperation and clarity. And in this case we realize that Neeber said cool, not Noober.

Also, there are a lot of free spell checkers and such out there (Check out Download.com). And I hate to harp on it, but something as simple as spelling really can make or break a story, because it can take your reader out and break the flow.

Welcome though and I hope that you enjoy your stay in FW FanFic

Posted by VigaHrolf on 16 April 2004 - 08:24 AM in Scribbles on the Wall

I can understand that...

But it was a good story, nice and tight. Good pacing and an interesting plot.

Although I have to wonder about the rate at which your Renal expends lives... good troops are hard to find.

Perhaps we can convince you to grace us with another tale?

Seif,

I remember this little gem. And it just as funny the second time around. A great episode of Mischaracterization Theatre.

Thanks for bringing it back!

#110376 Tavern Fights!

Posted by VigaHrolf on 16 April 2004 - 12:30 PM in IE Mod Ideas

This sounds like it could be an amusing mini mod to add a good bit of color to the game.  Not just necessarily tavern fights, but other things going on in taverns.  Romantic rendezvous by just random people, women of negotiable virtue advertising and even propositioning PCs and NPCs, storytellers, con artists and all the ilk.

And a few good brawls, either between randoms or some random and the party, with the potential for non violent conclusion and some good banter.

And just random fun like, some poor sob is drinking and you talk to him.  He's depressed and you ask why.  His lady has dumped him and if you actually listen, you can give him some advice, some good, some bad, some designed to just piss him off.  Then maybe see them make up of blow up.

Some random encounters with the Amnian characters associates could be fun.  Meet Jan's cousin Rudolph, Nalia's friend Deiter, and Anomen's poker circle, etc...

Ru,

Two great pieces here. Loved em both, although for entirely different reasons. The romantic comedy for the just the sheer amusement of it. It is just outright funny. :D

Keldorn... that's just harsh. I really like it and you can just feel the old knight's concern and pain. And his death so.. tragic...

Great stuff. MORE!!! ;)

As the duly appointed representative of Anti EATCO, I welcome you here, you crazy elf lover. ;)

And its good to see the ol Rush rushing about.  :D

Course... I do wonder a bit about the box thing going on.... but I'll just leave it at that. :D

Theo,

Hehee.. nice pic.  I think the box was better though. :D :D

And as to druidess and snugglage.. I may be Anti EATCO, but that doesn't mean I don't like elves.  I just don't think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. ;)

#111680 Comments on "Rest in Pieces"

Bwahahahahahahaha

Kelsey getting chunked after his invention worked! Bwahahahaha!

I loved this story before and I love it even more again. A great and wonderful piece of madness. So many are not immune to the power that is UU. Many have fallen under his dark sway. :D

Its great, isn't it?

#112102 Comments on "Back To His Senses"

Posted by VigaHrolf on 23 April 2004 - 08:31 AM in Scribbles on the Wall

Bey,

Yay!  Back to his Senses.  A truly wonderful piece of writing, if I say so myself.  I remember the first time I read it and I was pleasantly surprised.  And it got better from there.

And I will also echo Theo in that your portrayal of Valygar brought that character to life for me in a most amazing way.  He went from just the tactiturn guy with the past to a vibrant, interesting and exciting character.  Thanks again!

#113032 Comments on "Anaria"

Posted by VigaHrolf on 28 April 2004 - 10:20 AM in Scribbles on the Wall

Ru,

I'm really enjoying the Tale of Anaria. I'm quite curious as to what is next. How will Ano react? Kelsey? What about Imoen and Jaheira?

And will hear more from Sarevok. I'm sure he'll have a few nice and kind and comforting things to say. ;)

#113106 Got a Question?

Posted by VigaHrolf on 28 April 2004 - 07:16 PM in Scribbles on the Wall

Kaos,

VigaHrolf here. First, posting is free to anyone who wants to do so. Unless they want to give me money, in which case, I accept. :) But, as my co-mod is so fond of saying, "Just jump into the pool"

I would add, don't wear cement shoes when you do it. :D

As to proofreading and such, send MG a PM. She's coordinating that effort.

MG,

Thanks for the kind words. :) And I'm sure you're happy to see a piece of my work appearing on the FW forum. Since I'm a mod and all. :)

Bey,

:D Thank you. I know you like the story of my young paladin lassie Aleria, and I figured I should bring her over for a visit.

As to other goodies.. I have NO idea what you could be talking about. ;) ;)

Farsal,

Some funny funny stuff there. The repeated lines by Ano and K were especially funny. Two jealous men seeing 'their' lady in nice silky lingerie.

Course, they coulda just enjoyed the view. :D

#114695 Many Meetings

Posted by VigaHrolf on 06 May 2004 - 09:38 AM in Scribbles on the Wall

Ahh yes...

Read this and while I don't think its a good idea, I don't necessarily think its a bad idea. It has just generally been my opinion and experience that round robins like this don't work unless you have a set crew and an overarching idea of what this crew wants to do. Otherwise you might go interesting places, but you could also get story yanking and such. Or people jumping in to just disrupt or yell strange things.

What MG is refering to that I ran, a more cooperative story telling system with an established leader or DM, I think would be more successful. Then everyone takes a character and you spin your story that way instead of fighting over how the MainChar will develop. Sure, its more constrained but its more likely to be successful and rewarding.

Just my two cents.
