*sigh* Well, I tried putting in those commands in that order and using the cheat that, in SoA, at least, initiated LTs, and I got squat. Just for my own reference, is the first LT initiated by some event in the game? or is this another byproduct of my laziness and impatience? Again, I ask if there is any particular time/place/order to put in these code-things to get this to work? (Gah, now I feel hopeless! Why is this so screwy?! Why, why?!)

The first lovetalk is initiated by passing the first Pocket Plane challenge and travelling to Saradush, it should trigger soon after that. I'm afraid I haven't experimented with setting the romance up 'artificially' so I don't know about the order of the commands. I can't see that the order would make any difference though.

Hey, the world isn't collapsin'! B) So yes, u type all these commands at the very beginning, at least before u summon Edwin. The first LT is triggered in Saradush, during your first arrival. U kill those guys near the gates, then talk to Melissan, and soon get the LT. :) The order of the commands makes no difference.

Laufey, got something else for you :) Taken from Dekkie's SoA tra file, 'tis the first two lines of the conversation from when the party first enters the house by the fish market in the Bridge area.

@81 = ~Good, you have arrived. There isn't much time to spare, so we must hurry. First of all, you cannot simply enter the house. The Red Wizards have wards in place that prevent access to all but those they choose to admit, and the inner segments of the building are sealed off. They can only be reached by using specially crafted teleportation rings. Fortunately, I have managed to ?acquire? one of those. The previous owner won?t be having any further use for it, I assure you. Once we are done speaking, I will use it to bring us inside, as it can transport a small group of people safely. Beware however, it will need time to recharge afterwards.~ [er_dek3]
@82 = ~Secondly, the house is warded to alert the wizards as soon as it is entered by an intruder. Try to stall them for as long as possible before attacking. No matter your tactics you must keep them occupied long enough for me to disarm the traps surrounding the phylactery. Once I do that I will bring it to you, and you can use it to imprison the lich.~ [er_dek3]

The soundclip in the second line should be removed, as it's the "Good, you have arrived" clip already played during the first line. Makes no sense having it repeat. :)

Bleh, I tried it twice and it's still not working... no matter if I type in the commands or not, he still starts out evil (and yes, I did put the codes in before I summonded him). Even when I import the game, codes or no, it still doesn't work...I'm just really annoyed, because this is a great mod and I can't figure out this dumb bug!

*I understand u being annoyed, I felt quite the same when Dekaras didn't appear when he was supposed to :) *
Odd. Is your character's intellect 14 or higher? 'Cause the commands are OK, it worked for two people! And yes, try this: first click on Edwin's portrait, then type expLoveTalk command, and press enter while the mouse pointer is at the portrait. Sounds rather stupid, but so sayeth the Romancing Guide, I've just checked it out :D Good luck! :)

The aforementioned commands should be enough to get the romance going in ToB. First lovetalk dialogue takes place after the dialogue with Melissan (when you arrive to Saradush). If you want him to be of non-evil alignment you'll either have to finish SoA with Edwin with neutral alignment in party or use something like Shadow Keeper or Near Infinity to change his alignment.

First, I would like to say I LOVE this mod. VERY well written (and I love the tickling bit too, mwuhahahah!)

As for dumb question time...

I just NOW realised that I forgot to install the TOB patch, and I'm right at where Edwin turns into Edwina. (I'm in the underground thingy to get the rod to use against the unseeing eye). However, right after the transformation, he turns blue circle and obviously I can't do anything with her. I tried reloading a couple times, sleeping, and even killing and ressurecting him, to no avail. After one sleep period Jaheira teased her about her feminine form, and Edwina responded, but was still not under my control. Since I don't have the patch installed I don't know whether this has to do with the patch or the mod, which is why I'm here.

I'm sure the best thing to do first is install the patch; is there a way to install the patch without first having to uninstall any mods and not have the patch screw them up?

Thank you so much! :D

Hello Maem, glad you like the mod. :)

Yes, I definitely think you should install the patch - I'm not 100% sure if that's what is causing your problem or not, but it seems likely enough. If you uninstall your mods, install the patch, and install the mods your save game will most likely be all right.

However, the more mods you have installed at the same time, and the more times you uninstall and reinstall them, the more the risk increases that something will get screwy, but I still think that's where you should start.

SoA only install:

-BGII SoA
-Latest official SoA patch
-Latest Baldurdash SoA Fixpack
-Non-WeiDU Mod (if you want to)
-WeiDU Mods

ToB install:

-BGII SoA
-BGII ToB
-Latest official ToB patch
-Latest Baldurdash ToB Fixpack
-Non-WeiDU Mod (if you want to)
-WeiDU Mods

Hope this helps. Oh, and I've heard there's a BG2 fixpack in the making that would replace the Baldurdash one with a much better WeiDU-based fixpack.

I would recommend against uninstalling your Mods, installing the patch, and then installing your Mods again. You can try, but it'll save you a lot of headaches if you re-install the game.

After you install SoA, ToB, the ToB patch and the ToB Fixpack, COPY your "override" folder and two files: DIALOG.TLK and CHITIN.KEY and save them onto your PC. When you want to start anew with installing Mods, simply remove those two files and the override folder, along with the other Mod files, and COPY the two files and override folder you backupped. :) That should save you a lot of time and headaches.

Hi again,

All seems to be going well now after following your instructions with the patch. I was afraid it would mess things up and I'd have to start all over again...but nope! :) Thanks!

Hi everyone! First of all, I LOVE this mod, you've done excellent work with Edwin! Probably the best romance mod ever, so far.

I've been fighting with a major problem these past few days, and I'm going nuts if I can't get the romance to continue soon.

So here's the deal. Edwin's now Edwina and everything's okay. But right after Degaras spawns for the first time (and I cover for Edwin), NOTHING. I know there should be one (or two) lovetalks before Degaras spawns again, something about a lock of hair, I think. But it never happens. EdwinRomance is set to 1 and after Degaras has appeared LoveTalk check is 29. I've been trying to spend time to get the next LT, I've been trying different places, resting, doing quests, I've been trying to load an older saved game and doing it all again, I've left the game on unpaused while going to lunch, hoping that the next LT would begin. But NOTHING.

And then I noticed it. Some time after Degaras had appeared, Edwina turns towards PC and his music theme starts playing, like an LT would begin, but it doesn't! That's all what happens, and after this the LoveTalk check is set to 31. So it seems like one LT would've been skipped. But the problem is that the next LT won't appear, I've tried to wait for it (and I ofcourse have no idea what happened in that particular skipped LT).

Just that you know, I've played BG2-ToB through a million times (but oddly enough I've never had Edwin with me.. O.O) so this time I took the liberty of cheating and ShadowKeepering A LOT, just so that I can enjoy the romance and do what ever I want. x) I hope this doesn't effect the romance. But I haven't touched the variables at all. I believe I have the latest version of the mod, I've got a couple of other mods (ease-of-use, dungeon-be-gone, flirtpacks, 1 pixel productions, item upgrade, underrepresented items atleast), and I've got ToB and the patch installed - all in the right order.

So what can I do? I'm going nuts ("KILLING SPREE!!1") if I won't be able to continue the romance pretty soon, because this really is absolutely great. Help wanted. :0

Hi there, glad you're enjoying the mod! :)

What you've encountered is an annoying but, that isn't specific to the Edwin Romance, I've run into it occasionally in the unmodded game as well. Sometimes, for some reason, you'll hear the music playling but not get the actual lovetalk. Ususally it makes no huge difference, but sometimes it can mess things up if the missed lovetalk was an important one.

I think adjusting the variables is your best bet, if you want the lock of hair. (You can still finish the romance without it, you'll just have to make a different choice at one point.)

Thank you! As I'm no expert on these things I hope you could give me some advice on how to adjust them. I told you before, the next LT didn't appear either, so help on the variables would be appreciated. :)

Decided to register because this seems like a pretty good forum. ^^

But anyways, I was the one wondering about the problem with the LT's yesterday and wanting help with the variables. I've been messing around with them now, but I haven't figured it out how to get things working again. So I was hoping if you could tell me the variables of EdwinLoveTalkCheck and EdwinRomance (and some others, too, if need be, I don't know.. x)) of the lock of hair dialogue and the one after it, so I could have SOME idea how to fix the variables.

Hope this isn't too much to ask, I'm sorry for bothering you guys - but hey, why did you make such a great mod? :D Thank you.

*OH MY GOD I'm going nuts! I've been working on this ALL DAY with Shadow Keeper and the Infinity Explorer, and I realized it started already right after Degardan's first appearance! After I've covered for Edwin, Degardan leaves and then Edwin should say: "The bloodmoney of my associates offer does not tantalize you?" But it skips that dialogue too! LoveTalk is 28 after this. So everything works until this point and after Degardan it all goes to h*ll. And the next dialogue (I believe the one with the lock of hair) is skipped too, the LoveTalk being 31 after it. Then I've been marching around and waiting for Degardan to appear for the second time, hoping that it would start magically working again, but it hasn't! I'm really, really, really going nuts with this, and I really don't know what to do.

Argh. I just hate to see Edwina turn to my PC and the music starts playing but the dialogues won't appear. Argh.

The CLUA command to trigger the next lovetalk is:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("EDWINROMANCE","GLOBAL","1")

I really hope that will help you, I can see how annoying this must be. :(

Ha! I don't know what happened really, but all I really had to do was to set EdwinRomanceDegardan to 2 and then the next LT appeared!

By the way, this

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("EDWINROMANCE","GLOBAL","1")

doesn't help me at all with Edwin. I've tried it several times actually during the romance so far and nothing happens. O.O Similar commands do work in other romances, though. Weird.

Strange - other people have supposedly used it, and it worked. I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't know why it doesn't for you.

One last noticeable thing...I made an effort to test this out for myself. I started a new game, ran through the Mae'Var sequence, then spawned in Mazzy (since I normally do not have her and Eddie in the party at the same time) and triggered the convo via CTRL + I.

Below is part of the Edwin/Mazzy flirt-ish banter addon, both the PC choice (4th in the list) and the initial response.

"What, you were expecting me to care? You mean less to me than the dirt under my feet, and if you want to make an even bigger fool of yourself than usual then I'm perfectly content to stand back and watch."

"In that case, CHARNAME, please do. I thought we meant more to each other than that, but it appears I was sadly mistaken. Mazzy, as I was about to say..."

There aren't any brackets around the CHARNAME, so it literally comes out ingame as CHARNAME. :)
