Hey, is anyone here ?
*silence*
No, doesn't seem so... :P

Just to post something on topic - I prefer BG2 portraits with the exception of Viconia.

Did Jaheira have a nose job?

Did Jaheira finally change into an elf ?

I don't think there really was a topic to stay on...

Anyway, obviously, Irenicus has been practicing for his future life. Looks like his going to work for a makeup place or plastic surgery. So far he's: Changed hair (Imoen), given a nose job (Jaheira). Boy, this world is more advanced than I thought...

Viconia's change in appearance can be explained away quite easily IMO. The sunlight gave her a deeper tan over time. Notice that her BG1 portrait doesn't zoom in on her facial features all that much.

Imoen just grew up and lost some weight. *Hides from Imoen fans*.

Viconia tanned from purple-yellowish-greenish to blue-gray? I always thought drow went from ebony (pitch-black) skin to lighter color on the surface from over-exposure...

I can't adequately explain the change in appearance either.

If you look at Viconia's BG1 portrait you'll see that her face is lit up by fire-light which makes her skin color and texture unclear.

Drow have charcoal black skin AFAIK which isn't pleasing to the eye.

I think some people would disagree with you on that... especially some African-descent people I know. ;) Now as to whether Drow skin really lightens into a dark blue tone when they've been in sunlight, I don't know. I've never read those Drizzt books. Has his skin lightened? He's been up on the surface a long time, from what it seems.

I think what L, meant was that it's difficult to have an image of truely ebony black skin in colors, not that it's not beautiful. The most sucessful pictures of the drow I have seen were all solved in dark violet to blue tones. Gray ones look too bleak, imo and the brown-yellow do not look drow enough. The darker is the picture the more difficult shadowing is - so I guess that's where the multicoloring came from.

I will not rely on Salvatore for realistic details. Lol, the man stubbornly teaches the youth that 20,000 drow can leave in the Underdark in total isolation feeding on a single herd of rothe which in turn feed on a moss covered island. His mortality/birth rates are just as weird and unsubstantual.

In Icewind Dale 2 there are a number of Drow portraits. The Drow portrayed in one of them (although I vaguely remember) had the skin colour and texture (roughness) of chalky black coal.

Perhaps Drow skin colour ranges like human skin colour.

Viconia's BG1 visage is obscured too much to make a fair comparison to her purple-blue skin seen in BG2 IMO.

I pretty much know next to nothing about the Drow anyway. I couldn't stand R. A. Salvator's writing to read the tales of his uber-characters all the way to the end.

Drow in the Forgotten Realms have obsidian-color skin. Half-Human Drow have dusky gray skin. The skin tone doesn't change during their lifetimes, due to age or exposure.
