A German gamer reported the following:

If I travel from Waukeens to one of the other cityparts, I need each time 20 hours.
If I travel from the other parts back to Waukeen all is fine and need 0 hours.
I've revised travel times of the worldmap installed.

Greetings Leomar

but you have more choices or paths through the game.

Well, some player do still face the problem Leomar mentioned. One of them suggested a hotfix for it at Kerzenburg:

http://kerzenburg.ba...6040#post956040

Rough translation:
In Worldmap.wmp the four lniks of the Promenade seem to be the four links of Watcher's Keep (because of the travel times). (In fact the first five links seem to belong to Watcher's Keep. The four of the Promenade and one of the Slums (although one doesn't notice this in the game)).

Furthermore, BP-BGT-Worldmap seems to put Watcher's Keep two times into the map. Once by copying xNewArea.2da and x1300.2da into the override, once by inserting the links into Worldmap.wmp (Setup-BP-Worldmap.tp2).

If one deledes in 2da/xNewArea.2da the entry concering Watcher's Keep (so the the file is empty, except for the headline), one doesn't face the problem anymore. Watcher's Keep area nevertheless reamains accessible.

----
I do not know if this helps, but I guess so... Anyway, it would be nice if this problem could be fixed in the next version or via a hotfix.

Do you mean like this
2DA V1.0
*
         AREA SCRIPT FLAGS ICON LOCX LOCY LABEL NAME LINK_2DA N_LINKS E_LINKS S_LINKS W_LINKS LINKS_TO
Then probably start a new game. Maybe i should try this sometimes. At least when i'm starting my next game with a new BWP install. Sadly my current game is at chapter 2 in BG2 so it's going take long time till i'm finished this install.

It's rather annoying bug but i haven't yet found any solution.

There have been problems associated with removing WK from xnewarea.2da (maybe adding WK to the wmp file avoids this issue?).

Well removing the line from xnewarea.2da doesn't help me in my current game. So i was mostly thinking about my next install somewhere in the future after i play this one to end of ToB.

Fennek suggested removing the line from couple post earlier so i was thinking about trying it.

It's annoying 20h bug. :(

Since I have never had this happen before with the ridiculous travel times in Athkatla, there is something more sinister at work.

About Watcher's Keep
Editing xnewarea.2da is not a solution because you cause the problems described in the link I posted. Adding WK to the wmp file does not change this. To fix it you would need to alter the worldmap mod code to not add WK to the wmp file. You would also need to change all the linking of mod-added SoA areas to WK and vice versa to be done via 2da files.

About the extra links from the Promenade and maybe the 20h travel bug
The worldmap mod does not itself add more than 4 links from the Promenade (all 4 leading to the Slums), nor should there be more than 4 links from the Promenade. Your best bet is to find the mod that incorrectly makes the worldmap mod add these links.

I know I added one link in The Darkest Day but that was for DD8000 and DD80001 so I don't think it is causing this.

Have any other mods been added say in the last six months to a year that add worldmap areas? Maybe there is another mod adding the extra links?

It sounds like this is only with Revised Travel Times but can anyone confirm this?

You shouldn't add links to any Athkatla district except the City Gates (that's what they're there for). Once you're in the City Gates you can travel along the intra-Athkatla links to any Athkatla district.

It sounds like this is only with Revised Travel Times but can anyone confirm this?

I don't think Revised or Original travel times are involved. It's probably just that more people install the mod with the Revised option.
FWIW, I was able to produce this exact issue (20h travel time from the Promenade, 0h back, only able to travel to City Gates upon first leaving the promenade) by adding a link between the Promenade and the City Gates, so I imagine the problem is that there is some mod out there that does something like that.

I just added a link from DD8001 to DD8000 to resolve a destination unreachable. DD8000 already had a link to the City Gates as the only link to any Athkatla districts. The rest are the outer areas like De'Arnisse and the other TDD spots.

Can you upload your worldmap file with the problem?

Where's this worldmap from? From your override or from your save? If it's from your override, could you upload the worldmap from a save affected by the bug? The contents of your weidu.log file could also be useful.

I got no worldmap.wmp in my override. That one is an export via NI of the worldmap.wmp from the WMP-directory. I uploaded another worldmap_save.wmp which is an export via NI from a saved game.

I uploaded another worldmap_save.wmp which is an export via NI from a saved game.

I guess we've found the problem. Instead of linking the Promenade to the Slums, the worldmap in your save links the Promenade to the City Gates, Umar Hills, Windspear Hills and Trademeet. Since your biffed worldmap looks all right I would surmise whatever causes the problem takes place while the game holds the worldmap in memory.
Can you inspect the files xnewarea.2da and xl3000.2da and check if they're identical to how they're described here (xnewarea) and here (xl3000)? If they're different, could you post the textual contents of the file(s) and a change-log of it/them?

The xnewarea.2da is different:
2DA V1.0
*
         AREA SCRIPT FLAGS ICON LOCX LOCY LABEL NAME LINK_2DA N_LINKS E_LINKS S_LINKS W_LINKS LINKS_TO
1 AR3000 AR3000 7 90 1340 3770 66122 66122 XL3000 0 0 5 0 10

And has a changelog like this:
[WeiDU.exe] WeiDU version 21800
[WeiDU.exe] Using scripting style "BG2"
override/XNEWAREA.2DA BGT/Backup/0/XNEWAREA.2DA
override/xNewArea.2da BP-BGT_Worldmap/Backup/0/xNewArea.2da

Mods affecting XNEWAREA.2DA:
00000: ~SETUP-BGT.TP2~ 4 0 // Baldur's Gate Trilogie - Hauptteil: 1.09 (8 May 10) BWP Trimpack
00001: ~SETUP-BP-BGT-WORLDMAP.TP2~ 1 0 // ?berarbeitete Weltkarte fr Baldurs Gate v7.1 - Big Picture und kompatible Modifikationen mit farbigen Baldurs Gate Kartenicons -> Installiere neue Weltkarte fr die Megamodifikation: v7.1 BWP Trimpack

The file xl3000.2da is identical to your linked one.

The xnewarea.2da is different:

Well, nothing strange there.

If I were to guess I'd say it's probably a hardcoded bug in the code that patches the contents of xnewarea.2da and xl3000.2da into the worldmap. Though it is probably only triggered by some unusual conditions(s) or this problem would be more widespread than it seems to be. Aside from apparently shuffling some existing links (and/or doing even worse things), it seems to produce some (14 in this case) links unreferenced by any area.

So if there's any information missing that I could supply please let me know.
Thanks for Your help.
Does a changelog on the worldmap file help to identify what patch we are looking for?
Can we (or the patcher himself) track down and finally eliminate the error in that patch?
(I don't have the slightest idea of that coding and patching stuff...)

Oh, I meant it's probably a bug in the game executable itself, which basically puts it out of reach. Maybe Ascension64 could be talked into looking into it (even though the evidence is rather meagre), but other than that I don't think there is much to be done.
Maybe some headway could be made in identifying the conditions that result in this problem, by collecting weidu.logs of people who have this problem and comparing them with weidu.logs of people who do not have this problem (e.g. does it occur if you have 20 worldmap-area-adding mods installed but not if you merely have 15 such mods installed; or, is there a mod or set of mods that result in this problem, etc). But maybe the problem's not reproducible, which would make it difficult (like, really difficult) to narrow it down.

I can probably whip up something that fixes the 20h travel problem itself, but who knows what other problems arise from this bug.
