The spiked room doesn't have anything to do with it. You need the Lizardman Treasure Room Key (TCKEY04). The Lizardman Chief has one in his inventory but you can't steal it.... I usually just jump in .curiosity got the best of me and i ctl-j a party member into the treasure room and found out how you're supposed to get in (the hole in the wall). i assume the spiked room has something to do with getting in as well. i sent shadow in and disabled all of the traps, but that did nothing. i'm moving on in the story, i'm just curious as to the proper way of getting in there.
"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart-arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!"

But what about the experience points? For me, it's clearly never the equipment I go after in the Lizardmen cave... it's the monsters. The Lizardman Chief has one in his inventory but you can't steal it.... I usually just jump in .
Deactivated account. The user today is known as The Imp.

Yeah, I exterminate them all on my way to Mistmoor after being informed by the Militia Caption that they brought plenty of food for the starving, homeless, grief-stricken villagers crowding Saltmarsh . I even CLUA in the the head-honchos to kill if they have already disappeared, I just don't wait till then to help myself to their treasure. I squeeze every bit of XP and equipment out of every encounter .But what about the experience points? The treasure room is meant as a reward for doing the evil path. If you kill everyone here, you get the key and the rewards.
The other way of getting the key is to try to have the King die on the Sahaugin outside map. He will drop the key then. However, do this after you tell him you finished the sahaugin quest! Otherwise you are stuck. Since many enemies spawn, you can sometimes lead enough of them to the King to wear him down to kill him. It has been a long time since I tried this but that was my "good path" way of getting into the treasure room. There probably is no "Paladin" goodie way of getting in at all. Something that may have to be looked at later down the road...
