If you're using the EE games, you should use the new tool:

http://gibberlings3....showtopic=29337

Didn't know about that one. However, what about the classic games, not the EE versions?

Nothing has changed for classic games, BWS was outdated since long and still is.

Alien made many technical changes in the last weeks and now it is moved to github. This is preparation to invite new people to maintain it and bring it back to life.

Roxanne did this for the EE portion - somebody else is now needed to do it for classic game portion.

Unless I completely misunderstand what happens.

BWS maintenance info: "EETMoveItemsSoA" for EET from Roxanne will be moved from "recommended" status to blue letters + red box (i.e. something between standard and tactics). This is more a tweak of the heavy sort, as it changes the game flow at the beginning of SoA immensely. With all the items, the group has the necessary 20,000 gp in a day. This should be installed together with other tweaks and tactics mods that make the game harder and the fee to Brynnlaw higher.

Is there anyway to disable the automatic download (it's a huge waste of time when it's re-downloading Portraits when nothing has changed)

Not an answer per se, but have you tried to point SHS to the same download folder where you keep previously downloaded archives? SHS should skip all downloads that are consistent in name and size with files already present in the folder you pointed it to for downloads.

It's mainly the GitHub mods. Some are rather large

Just a note because it was discussed earlier: Kerzenburgforum has stable download links now, as well. These will be valid for all mods that will be updated from now on, starting with Ajantis BGII today. The links in BWS will be updated accordingly and downloads will be set to automated, again.

When i go to test the mods, it says that "BG1 Unfinished Business" is "defunct"  This is a bit troublesome as it has had issues trying to be installed and executed before, and was wondering if this had anything to do with it.

Would you elaborate on when and how this error message occurs? I don't find the word "defunct" anywhere in the BWS package.

I had to reinstall today and had no problems re UB. Is it the BWS or the EE version you are using?

Overall changes:

-portrait mods with unclear copyright status have been removed from automated download and from preselections.

I need to elaborate on this, it seems. It's not that I randomly removed downloadlinks or that the automated download of the BWS is no longer fully functional.

I removed links to portrait mods that violate copyright. EDIT: I believe to have unclear copyright status. I admit I went over the top with this, seeing that the link to PPE was not removed from the BeamDog thread, and also BG1NPC Portrait Pack current version only contains original art (content with unclear copyright status got removed).

We are only talking about the portrait mods that used copy&paste from portraits around the internet. EDIT: this is true for the three mods in question and since I'm in Germany, this is a huge topic around here. Appearently, not everywhere.

I am not talking about PaintBG or portrait mods with original art.

The mods in question are:

-bg1npc_portrait_pack.ini - mod is deprecated and taken off by mod's authors/maintainers themselves exactly because copyright thoughts the current portrait pack contains original art.
-nscportraits.ini - BGT Portrait mod with lots of portraits from the internet and not one copyright info
-thepicturestandard.ini - contains a lot of unauthorized portraits, for example from the Gavin mods where these portraits are already removed because of the missing copyright.
-PPE.ini - also with lots of portraits from the internet

I know the modding scene was rather careless about using artist's work in the past. We made a huge step forward towards respecting these laws and also respecting the work of artists by not just using their work without permission.

BWS does still consider these mods in terms of conflicts and install order. There is even a link to the threads of these mods, just no download link for automated download. If players want to include them they can do so on their own decision.

Download links to the 4 portrait packs in question were restored.

There were some unresolvable differences in how BWS should be maintained so I will stop contributing.

EDIT: Concerning the BG1NPC Portrait Pack I stand corrected: The offending portraits were already removed and the current version contains original art for the joinable NPCs, only.

Technically, a whole bunch more of mods would be verboten, maybe all of them on principle. But there's a certain tolerance as long as there's no commercial profitability. Look at all the Star Trek fan films out there (the ones that got really successful fan-base wise if not financially, CBS/Paramount finally stepped in and said, umm, maybe it's about time we got a cut of this...).

Looks like you've been doing some good work here though. Hell, maybe next time you'll even get around to Xvart Caverns, and I'll be a half-orc/half-drow (uhm, nevermind that last bit... been a while since I looked in the mirror).

Hello there.

I am currently attempting my first ever Big World Setup for BGT and I am encountering an error on the installer.  It keeps advising me that I need to have the Northern Tales of the Sword Coast patch in the BGII - SOA folder as it is not present.

I have double checked my BGII - SOA folder as the installer suggests and can confirm that NToTSC is present and correctly extracted as is it's dependancy, Dark Side of the Sword Coast however, when I press any key to continue once I have verified it just repeats the message and does not continue with the installation.

Would there be anyone who can shed some light on this for me?  I did note that it is asking for the NToTSC patch but after googling it I find no links or anything for a patch for the mod specifically so am pretty sure it's the mod installation that it means.

Any help is most gratefully received.
