Okay, been methodically hunting down and correcting errors as Weidu's been reporting them, but this one's got me stumped. Here's the text block in question:

Odd thing is, the bolded part is what Weidu says has a parsing error-column 1-3 of that line. Anyone know what's up with this particular gremlin?

Have you tried removing that END altogether? I don't recall ending any blocks with "END".

Same dialogue block, but now it says this bolded part has a parsing error.

When using CHAIN, I think you only need the '~'s around the IF ~~ THEN statements. Your filename does not have to be in ~s.

The only thing I could think off is removing the ~~ for T1DARIAN - maybe WeiDu thinks that is what is supposed to be said, instead of being the file to take from? But that's only if it's not working to put ~~ for that - I wouldn't know. (Don't trust in anything I say about coding - I grasped the basic concepts of it less than a week ago.) But it's worth a try, I suppose.

At the end of CHAIN, you should have EXIT, not END. :)

Tempest: In short, still getting a parsing error there, even when I shortened it to T1Dar, which is Darian's actual death variable and what I use for all of his dialogue and file prefixes.

If the dialogue is in a file named T1Dar, there's supposed to be T1Dar there. :3

Still having a problem with this line:

I've hacked apart every gremlin up until this one-just doesn't seem to matter what I do, Weidu reports a parsing error in this spot.

Is it CHAIN, or is it normal dialogue? Never mind. You sent me the file by email. I'll look.

It's CHAIN, so that's fine.

The problem is that you've got a normal dialogue state above it. Which means that you need a second END before the CHAIN.

It should look like
IF ~~ THEN BEGIN T1ElfBye
SAY ~says something.~
IF ~~ THEN EXIT
END
END

CHAIN
IF ~NumTimesTalkedTo(0) InParty("Aerie") !Dead("Aerie")~ THEN ~T1DAR~ T1AeriePartyIntro
~SAYS SOMETHING ELSE.~

Just a note: No one will ever see this state, as it is written. You've got two states above it that have NumberTimesTalkedTo(0) as one of the triggers, with the only difference being the alignment of Player1. Stick a !InParty("Aerie") in both, and you'll be good to go.

Try sticking
APPEND T1Dar
at the beginning, under BEGIN T1Dar.

Also, this block is missing an IF ~~ THEN before the EXIT
IF ~~ THEN BEGIN T1IntroBye

I'm not getting discouraged, really-just a little impatient. Darian's last line of defense against being released is proving to be a damn good one.

You've got two ENDs in that block, but I don't think that's the problem. I'm going to try *once* to get that file to compile, and then I'm going to call it a night. If it works, I'll compress the file and send it to you so you can move on to the next one.

Tempest, you need to learn to work the space key. It is extremely difficult to proofread
