Thanks Ascension for still replying on this thread. I stopped playing Baldur's Gate Tutu when my game crashed for I don't know if it's still okay to pursue the game when you experience a crash. I'm afraid my save file is already corrupted and will not work when I'm kinda far in the game. :)

Well, did you try using this tool on your corrupted save? That's the whole purpose of it - so you can use it and play the game again.

Hi,

I think I need some help here. I'm playing a relatively lightly modded (mainly BG1NPC, BG2FixPack and BG2Tweaks) BGT game and I've fallen victim to this notorious crash. I've downloaded the Crash Fixer but I can't seem to find my savegame files in any of the BG folders. How can that be? Could anyone direct me to the folder where those files are saved?

Normally, <BGT installation directory>\save\<some numbers with your saved game name>\. If you are playing a multiplayer game, then change 'save' to 'mpsave'. If still nothing, try starting a new game, saving the game (not using quick-save or auto-save), then do a search for BALDUR.GAM on your hard disk.

Utility works like a charm. Thanks.

Worth mentioning: I get the corruption consistently because I have 12 spells on Edwin and that is apparently breaking the game.
Full string: [i]Error in actor: 17[*MTOWBE], spell memorization slot: 12.

Metathiax, i had the same problem. are you running windows 7? i found the .sav files here:

c:/ -> Users -> my "User Name" -> AppData -> Local -> Virtual Store -> Program Files (x86) -> BaldursGateTutu -> Save

i found these when searching for the files in the baldurs gate tutu directory. a the top bar you can select "Compatability Files". that shows you the save files and the root directory for them.

thanks for your help/work on this issue.

i am currently in the grips of this bug. i downloaded JRE as well as your utility and they seem to be running fine. i located my .sav files here:

c:/ -> Users -> my "User Name" -> AppData -> Local -> Virtual Store -> Program Files (x86) -> BaldursGateTutu -> Save

i dont know if it is because i run windows 7, but that is where i found them, not in the location as instructed in your tutorial.

i run your utility, and select the .sav file (say, the autosave one taken before travel). it gives me the process button, and i hit it. it goes through its process and then says done.

i load the game just fine, but when i try to travel to Beregost, it still boots me to desktop.

any ideas? am i doing something wrong?

Nope, you probably aren't doing anything wrong. It means that something other than the standard things has gone wrong with the saved game. If you could please zip up your saved game and post it here, I will have a look at it over the weekend. If you are using lots of mods, could you also post the textual contents of your WeiDU.log file?

Nope, you probably aren't doing anything wrong. It means that something other than the standard things has gone wrong with the saved game. If you could please zip up your saved game and post it here, I will have a look at it over the weekend. If you are using lots of mods, could you also post the textual contents of your WeiDU.log file?

I could load the game without problems on my EasyTutu install. I am thinking it could be a mod or perhaps a game settings thing here. Would you be able to include a zip up of that whole autosave folder, since I could only test the SAV file in what you posted?

There is nothing with Beregost, but there is something very wrong about the way that

interacts with

~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #0 #1210 // Use BG Walking Speeds (BETA): v7

specifically by corrupting _GARRIC[246].CRE, which is why the Beregost area does not load when the player character is Level 2 or higher. _GARRIC.CRE is unaffected. I'll report this for further investigation in the BG2 Tweaks forum, but for now, uninstalling the ToB-Style NPCs component should fix the problem.

Perfect! This fixed my saves.

Just thought I'd post what mine read. Both my autosave and quicksave were corrupted. When I tried to leave Beregost, it crashed. After that, my saves wouldn't actually load. It's a little bit more difficult if I cannot save in Beregost, but I will be sure to have a non-Beregost save handy for the future.
