Lately my NoScript addon warns me about potential cross-site scripting (XSS) attempts whenever I open topics in the forums. The URL in question is "https:// apis.google.com/#insert-random-number-here". Can someone check whether it does anything harmful?

I suspect this to be part of the sites user profile management... if you are worried about it, use different browser, a one you have never used to log into the SHSforums and check if it still happens... this is off from the fact that the profile is needed to be checked, as the primary links on the site always use the http:// -topic title- /?view=getnewpost -end. :P
Or I could be just a crazy person. PS, it's more likely to be both rather than either one alone.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Well, AVG ThreatLabs doesn't report any actively malicious code running on shsforums.net, so that's a good sign.  After that, I looked at what Adblock Plus rules there were for apis.google.com.  Most of them fell under Social Blocking Lists, although there were a couple more rules for specific domains on the regular Ad Blocking Lists.  Mostly, I think it has to do with these Social Networking buttons at the bottom of the page.  I have my Adblock Plus filters set up to block junk like this (I had to turn them off to take the screenshot).

Screenshot 2016-03-22 15.26.51.png

This stuff could probably be labeled as minor forms of web tracking/web analytics, but they are found on the vast majority of websites these days.  While not overly "harmful", I don't care for this type of stuff (Social Networking clutter on normal webpages) and have my web browser block it automatically.  Same with all ads.

"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart-arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!"

Thanks for looking into it. I have suspected something like that, but wasn't certain. Some of the icons were already blocked by my "Privacy Badger" addon, but I don't know if Google+ was one of them (it is now). The issue appears to be fixed since a few days ago.

I guess that's what happens when the admins go MII (missing-in-inaction) and don't appoint surrogates.

Hello,

I am unable to copy info from files (like WeiDU.log) and then them paste it into a forum message.  Others seem to be able to do so, which leads me to think I must be missing some simple, but critical step or process.

This happens whether I use the mouse right-click method of pasting, or use the Ctrl-V method.  Can someone please give me some tips or hints on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks.

I just CTRL-V paste into the same window where I type anything else I'm posting.  I usually write [ spoiler] in front (without the space before the S) and [ /spoiler] at the end (again without the space).

Have you tried using a different Internet browser, or a different computer?

agb1,

I am still using Internet Explorer 11 as my main browser, and perhaps that was the problem.

Just now tried using Ctrl-V to to paste some info at SHS using the Firefox browser, and it worked perfectly.

Thank you very much for suggesting that I try a different browser.

Best wishes.

Hi so I noticed I can't upload any mods to the Planescape Torment section of the downloads. Not sure whats up but I figured I'd raise the issue.

Well, that might be the state for now... but if you have the inclination, I would suggest that you release the mod in the Miscellaneous Released Mods, with a note that the mod is indeed intended for the section Z, and then when you have made the mod, Report the post of yours that it makes that the forum moderators that asks them to look at the file and asks them the permission to be add your mods to a given section ... this is so they can check your mod, and make their own mind about it.

Except don't count on it, because you can ask the moderators multiple times over the span of years and they won't answer. BEcause they've abandoned this dead gay forum

I'd like to report that forum search is dead in hopes there's someone left around capable of doing something about it.
